Seeing the terrain around this track explains the pretty undulations of the track:

Williams is making progress and at least in qualifying pace now closer to the midfield than to Alfa and Haas.

Well, it appears that in order to try to stop being called Mazespin, Nikita has decided to drive so slowly that he couldn't possibly spin!

Stroll about a tenth ahead of Vettel in FP3 so far. Stroll has upgrades on the car that Vettel does not, because he’s ahead in the championship.

I’m sure someone will call the team out if Perez was ahead of Stroll when Stroll got upgrades last year (in Mugello/Russia I think)

Qualy looks too close to call between Merc and Red Bull at the moment, should be exciting.

Sky just covering a possible issue on Bottas’ car ahead of qualifying. Looks like it’s going to be sorted in enough time though.

Also covered in this tweet below, although that suggests it’s Hamilton’s car but the picture is the 77 car:

https://twitter.com/albertfabrega/statu ... 08323?s=21

Edit: it was a gearbox sensor issue for Bottas.

Can someone repeat what Crofty called Mazepin and Schumacher? It sounded like he swapped the letters of the start of their last names or something. Sounded like a mistake, but very poor from him.

Jeez, did Ricciardo make a mistake? Was about a second off Norris I think.

Yep, looks like he lost a bit with a lock up towards the end of the lap, but not 1.1s worth

What the hell is going on? Perez faster than Max so far in both sessions.
Hamilton flying but he is always mega on the mediums.

Doesn't look too promising for Redbull to challenge for pole today. The Merc is too good here.

Hopefully they've found good set-up direction and it continues from here onwards.

Side note - would be quite weird if Hamilton got his 100th pole position on the anniversary of Ayrton Senna's death. :?

Unlucky for Russel. So close to Q3 but amazing performance. He looks a damn fine driver. No idea what's going on with Red Bull, all of a sudden! Maybe they will be back to the top in Q3.

He’s probably better off in P11 with choice of tyres to be honest but an excellent session nonetheless!

I think Merc just have the advantage over Red Bull on the mediums and it’ll probably be a lot closer on the softs in q3.

Alonso 9 tenths behind Ocon... And Kimi 6 tenths behind Giovinazzi. It isn't the first time this year Alonso and Kimi have been beaten by such a huge gap in qualifying either.

Ricciardo has to also be mentioned though. It really isn't what we expect from him.

Let's not pretend this is a prime Fernando Alonso getting punked here.

Verstappen’s deleted time was quicker than Bottas and Hamilton, Hamilton was slower than on the mediums. Wonder if he’ll switch back?

Bottas is so frustrating. Often show us mediocre performances but when it was all lined up for a Lewis of Max battle, Bottas gets pole. Crazy!

Very confusing session :? seems like the track might have got slower for those final runs?

Bottas generally bounces back well in the qualifying after a bad weekend, which he deserves credit for.

No idea how to judge who had the faster car between Merc and Red Bull there.

Great job from Ocon and Sainz did a good job too getting ahead of Leclerc.

He was out competing in LeMans and Indy .. Not like Schumi having fun with bikes plus he is a few years younger and also Slowcon is no match for WDC Rosberg.. The prima Donna Alonso gonna have a miserable season of being schooled

Must have been the wind pick up.

Bottas wasn't as fast as Hamilton in Q2 must have been windier.
