Expecting a snoozefest with whichever Mercedes leading at the end of the first sector cruising to victory

I have five of my hard earned Great British pounds on a Verstappen win at 4/1

Can't see Verstappen taking two Mercedes. Best he can get I would say is second.

It's a gamble on Mercedes having issues a bit like last week and as a Hamilton fan, the £20 will cheers me up if it winsSchumacher forever#1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 4:27 pmCan't see Verstappen taking two Mercedes. Best he can get I would say is second.

Re: 2020 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
I was surprised that no one except Raikkonen tried to qualify on the mediums. I will be interested in the tire strategy.
Some of the pundits have suggested that no one likes the hard tires so it may be a two stopper going Soft/Medium/Medium.

They have to use the softs in the race because the hards are no good.Mort Canard wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 1:58 amI was surprised that no one except Raikkonen tried to qualify on the mediums. I will be interested in the tire strategy.

@racefansdotnet
Red Bull have switched Max Verstappen to a previously-used engine, turbo, MGU-K and MGU-H ahead of the race. They also changed his brake-by-wire unit and other parts.

Had no idea this would be a two stopper, nice! Hopefully Verstappen can pull a one-stopper

Re: 2020 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
I didn’t realise you could change engine parts after qualy without penalty. I wonder what the reason is for the change?
Re: 2020 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
.
So, IF Verstappen has been switched to a previously-used engine, turbo, MGU-K and MGU-H, how can the FIA tell if it is set to the same mode as practice ?

I think most will aim for one and only come in for a second if there is a late safety car.Schumacher forever#1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 12:22 pmHad no idea this would be a two stopper, nice! Hopefully Verstappen can pull a one-stopper

Expecting a procession but hoping I'm wrong. So difficult to overtake here, even with DRS.
Barca is a wonderful city though. I'm glad I visited 5 years ago.

Great start Lance! Nearly paved the way for Perez to get by Bottas.

Still think That Stroll's starts were always great, and not just related to his poor qualifying at williams. He quite possibly is one of the best on the grid in this area. Although the finish is more important!

Max was right to some degree. Red Bull lost the race in those 6 laps. Though you could say he might have struggled overtaking the Racing Points.Option or Prime wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 1:46 pmVerstappen throwing a tantrum again, quite funny really, does need to grow up though!

Albon being used as a test track mule for Verstappen.

What is that strategy? Go long and hope for a SC? Otherwise, Albon's race is ********.

I could be wrong but it might have been the case that Albon was no longer lapping quicker than those on the medium tyres, so had to bring him in.tootsie323 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 1:51 pmWhat is that strategy? Go long and hope for a SC? Otherwise, Albon's race is ********.

Red Bull f**ked up here, and its not because they dared to be brave. They did the opposite.
In 32 laps all they've managed to do is be on tyres that are net 2 laps older than Hamilton's.

At some point Bottas is going to have to try and beat Verstappen in this race. He can't afford to follow him home like in Hungary.
