Re: 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
Aero taking away from the racing again. Hamilton probably needs to conserve tires too but presumably had to back off due to brake temps there?
Re: 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
I'm guess I'm not a racer as such, but given Hamilton's title lead I'd be thinking second is not too bad.

Why not get him in with 20 - 25 to go, throw on a set of meds, turn the wick up & tell him to go for it?

Hamilton would have to be a bit dumb to retire with brake failure, calm down.

That was perfect IMO. Possible to overtake but not a given. Don't forget this was a fight effectively without DRS as well.F1_Ernie wrote:This track like a few need some adjustments. Hamilton was so much quicker and it took a back marker and mistake to give him a chance.

Hamilton needed a mistake and backmarker and how much faster is he? It's not really possible though.mikeyg123 wrote:That was perfect IMO. Possible to overtake but not a given. He ripped 6 seconds out of him in 3 laps on the hards, he wont be going quite so mad on these tyres but hes going to catch Verstappen for sure.

I was going to say Jezza should be on the pitwall, I would have made that call.

Re: 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
Lewis needs more than a second lap to give him a few laps to try the pass at the end. Should get tasty.

Re: 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
The backmarker hurt him really because Verstappen got DRS. This race has been made much better by the overtake not being a given.F1_Ernie wrote:Hamilton needed a mistake and backmarker and how much faster is he? Verstappen is in 19s that's too quick for Hamilton to catch.

5 seconds closed in 5 laps. 15 seconds left, 15 laps left.
Could go either way!

The only hope Hamilton has it Verstappen's tires hitting a cliff. As Poker said, 2nd isn't too bad really

Re: 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
Not quite enough pace for Hamilton to catch Verstappen, unless Verstappen tyres start to give up...

Re: 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
Well, it was 2nd either way if it doesnt work. Verstappen is going to cook his tyres at this pace though.
