Re: McLaren-Honda admits it's drivers slowest on the grid
Well, McLaren just came out and said it has the third best chassis, ahead of Ferrari. Honda then said it's engine is ahead of Ferrari's. Since both the engine and chassis beat Ferrari, McLaren must thrash Ferrari.
But that's not happening. Given the time gap between Ferrari drivers and McLaren drivers then, doesn't it follow how terrible the McLaren "world champions" are?
Seriously, this shows that there's an internal rift between McLaren and Honda, and it'll only get worse if McLaren doesn't let Honda partner with another team.

I was being satirical. The point being one half comes and says the chassis beats Ferrari, the other half comes and says the engine beats Ferrari, yet the drivers are miles behind.stevey wrote:any more info, like a linked article or somet?
McLaren Honda doesn't seem like a united team, does it..

Yep you nailed it, you just gotta look at Renault, they have already offered RBR an engine for next season, the extra data obtained by multiple teams running the same engine is invaluable for the PU manufactures.IDrinkYourMilkshake wrote:Well, McLaren just came out and said it has the third best chassis, ahead of Ferrari. Boullier went "Arai mode", smoke and mirrors. I think he had some kind of brain fart and we should not take those statements very seriously.
To me there's not a single doubt that the McLaren chasis is good, both drivers are very good (alonso having the upper hand) and the thing that is not up to par yet is the Honda engine.

posted before your 1st response. McLaren is a team they seem to just be going through the motions something is seriously wrong there, they have no joy, fake comrade, blaming each other left right an centre. Everyones attitudes just seem so down and depressed. They are truly a beaten team.

I'm a bit stumped as to how Boullier talking up the Honda PU may be seen to be blaming anybody?stevey wrote:IDrinkYourMilkshake wrote:I was being satirical. It never ceases to amaze me how people can manage to get a negative out of virtually anything these days. When Alonso talks up the chassis, I read that as soon as the not-exactly-secret issues Honda have been having with the PU have been sorted, they'll be right up there. It's very encouraging for the team. Yet others read it as an attack on Honda. Hmm. Similarly, when I hear EB talking up the Honda PU, I see it as McLaren getting behind their engine partners and, er, talking up their PU. But others somehow see that as a sign of disharmony and blame? I just don't get it, I'm afraid. It's like people want there to be problems between the partners
