CarlPotter's Top Three Championship 2015 - Final Standings

Post by Black_Flag_11 »

Planet F1 Top Three Championship 2015

So this was set up by Carl a couple of seasons ago but he then stopped posting last year. I took over the running in his absence & am happy to continue to do so this year.

Here are the rules. Note I have changed the deadline rule for the sake of my own simplicity. The cutoff is 20:00 UK time on the Friday of the race weekend. I will try to update my list on the Friday but I cannot guarantee it, so please avoid editing your post after this time, as it may mean I have to discount your prediction.
CarlPotter wrote:The scoring works like this:

You pick your predicted podium. For example, 1st: Vettel, 2nd: Hamilton, 3rd: Alonso.

1st Place Correct: 5 Points
2nd Place Correct: 3 Points
3rd Place Correct: 1 Point

All Three Correct: 5 Bonus Points

There are no points given out for having the correct drivers in the wrong order, so if you choose Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso, but it comes out Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton, then I'm afraid you score nothing.

The deadline to set your podium is 20:00pm UK Time on the Friday of each race weekend. This is to allow extra time for everybody to see what happens in the first two practice sessions. Any changes or any new entries made after 20:00pm UK Time on the Friday of each race weekend will not count.

You can only pick a driver once for any of the three positions. So you can't have Vettel, Vettel, Vettel.

At the end of the season, if there is a draw, the winner will be decided by whoever has achieved a "Perfect Prediction" the most number of times. A Perfect Prediction is, of course, getting all three correct. If that is equal, then it will come down to most rounds won and if that is equal, then the winner will be decided by the number of 1st Places correct, then 2nd, then 3rd... If it's still tied after that, then it will be declared a draw and the Championship will be shared.

Last season we introduced a team championship. The team aspect is simple, choose a teammate, make your predictions as normal and then both yours and your teammates scores will be added together to make the up the teams score. The tricky part is balancing your picks when you are trying to win both championships.

Confirmed teams for 2015
No Limit Excedrin Racing - (Exediron & pubpokerplayer)
Force Indian Takeaway - (coulthards chin & Jenson's Understeer)
My Heart Will Grosjean - (Black_Flag_11 & Fountoukos13)
Multi21 (cm97 & Icemanjee1)
Team 4 (Bentrovato & dizlexik)
F1 Mayhem (jimmyj & Mayhem)
McLotus (Lotus49 & mcdo)
Fire & Ice (robins13 & Saz)

I presume most of you will want to continue in the same teams as last year, so if one of you could confirm it by either PM/in the thread I can put you on the list.

Also I am looking for a new teammate as my partner in crime last year Neutrality was not been able to participate due to other commitments.

Probably even before McLaren does!

Looking forward to my rookie season in this championship though. I hope we have a full, competitive field fighting for both titles, and some racing where it doesn't all come down to guessing the 3rd driver on the podium :-P
PICK 10 COMPETITION (5 wins, 17 podiums): 3rd in 2016

This thread doesn't appear to include last year's teams standings. That seems like an oversight, and in a completely impartial move, I felt I should just remind everybody of how that finished:

1. Force Indian Takeaway (coulthards chin & Jenson's Understeer) - 192pts
2. Multi21 (Icemanjee1 & cm97) - 179pts
3. Fire & Ice (robins13 & jimmyj) - 148pts
4. Chilton Is Faster Than You (housemsq & Khelyd) - 129pts
5. Team 4 (Bentrovato & dizlexik) - 118pts
6. Smith Lambrini Racing (pubpokerplayer & huggybear) - 117pts
7. The GloboGym Purple Cobras (Neutrality & Black_Flag_11) - 109pts
8. MizPot Racing (CarlPotter & Mizanthropic) - 93pts

;)
Pick 10 | 1st x3, 2nd x3, 3rd x8
2019: 11th | 2018: 5th | 2017: 6th | 2016: 8th | 2015: 2nd | 2014: 15th | 2013: 17th | 2012: 11th

We're pleased to announce that we have secured the title sponsorship for our team, the negotiations of which have been delaying our car launch and causing undue rumors that our team is encountering funding difficulties or unable to gather interest at the outrageous prices we ask. I can state that there is no truth to these rumors at all, and that our team could have run without title sponsorship if we so chose. However we believe that by working with our new sponsors in a synergistic fashion we can leverage our related core competencies and push both ourselves and our sponsors forward to dominate the premier stage of the global market.

And so, without any further ado, I give you the revolutionary No Limit Excedrin Racing ER001:

I know, I know... But our title sponsor insisted we had to take some sort of gamble with the powertrain, and it was either that or build our own engine ;)

I love how you refer to your "title sponsor" - great. I wish I knew how to do photoshop etc as I'd come up with a rival car. (Probably a Beverly Hillbillies Cadillac but it would be funny) LOL

Happy New F1 season to you all,

I will be back this season, just to have a bit of fun of course.
I have messaged Icemanjee1, so we should have a confirmation that multi21 will be back bigger and better in 2015 soon.

Blackflag, my offer from last year still stands if you need assistance calculating scores this year.

We are back in business this year! We had a solid season until the European races ended and we dropped like a rock. But after a solid off-season and promising pre-season testing, we could have a very strong 2015.

1. Hamilton.
2. Rosberg
3. Vettel

Feels a lot like 2014 already: first two is a choice between just two drivers, and third is a toss-up between a couple of teams.
