Still has 91 victories, 7 WDCs and a number of other great statistics to his name.
He's also given some good times since he popped back into the sport. Farewell to Schumi, the worst successful F1 driver of all time (though, I do think Seb Vettel will probably end up beating it...)

Re: Michael Signs Off
The worst last 10 laps I could have ever imagined from MSC. To let another driver from another team to pass him, I couldn't believe. So disappointed in him

Ham and Alo might have something to say about that.

They are statistically inferior. Nevertheless they might have something to say.

@swan :Michael is a hard pill to swallow, isnt he?....it must be all the victories and records broken that get lodged in your troat..drink some tea
Re: Michael Signs Off
not enough years left in their careers..
Re: Michael Signs Off
He did pretty OK compared to Rosberg this race, i think.
Bye Schumacher... we'll never forget the questionable things BUT we'll also never forget the impressive drives you did !!

Ruthless, polarising, flawed genius - enjoyed watching him race in his prime not so much his later years but what a talent and work ethic - glad I got to see him race live a few times when he was still on top of his game.

Re: Michael Signs Off
He made an awesome start and was just behind Rosberg...then gets a puncture and is dead last. Claws his way up the standings and finishes 7th with the realisation that a car over 2 seconds faster than him will pass him.
I am so proud of him..he dragged that car to a points finish when it didnt deserve one.

Yeah, obviously he had a puncture (as did Rosberg) but he did a good finish.

his legacy although impressive is unfortunately tarnished with a reputation for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Like Senna? like Alonso? etc ....
Re: Michael Signs Off
Its just a shame that the statistics (race points) at the end of this season don't come close to reflecting the many good drives he had in a dog of a car
.
How unlucky is it that at the beginning of the season (when the car was far more competitive), he had so many mechanical problems/retirements...? Not to mention that his only (IIRC) at fault accident cost him the pole at Monaco!
IMO Schumi drove far better than Nico this year in the races - although he didn't generally perform better in quali.
I'll miss him, and think it is a great shame that (apart from a v few races) the Merc proved to be such a disappointing car.

Re: Michael Signs Off
I totally agree with this. When he let Vettel by it gave Vettel the championship without having to earn it. This kind of behavior has been the hallmark of Schumacher's F1 history. He disrepected F1 by not acting in a sporting manner. I won't miss his arrogance one bit.

Re: Michael Signs Off
He's still quick enough to race in F1. Too bad he doesn't want to continue.

in his first F1 stint, I totally agree, but since his second stint, I have had a change of heart for his driving integrity.

Yes, that is the party line, isn't it?
Consider the standard that F1 drivers are subject to compared to foul mouthed, dissembling, whiny, cheating soccer players.
In a career spanning two decades, Michael had two desperate corner clashes and a parking incident which may qualify for penalty kicks or perhaps a red card in a soccer game, but never a complete forfeiture of a season, calls for banning from the game and the complete opprobrium of the media. He pushed people around on the race track - possibly a yellow card or a free kick. I don't know for sure how soccer works, but you get the idea.
It is sad that people are unable to make up their own minds about what they see, and need experts and commentators to tell them what it means.

Re: Michael Signs Off
Danke Michael
Sure some unsportsmanlike behaviour, but I would have it all over again no worries, it just showed how badly he wanted to win, and although I do not want to see others crashing eachother off, sometimes today you just do not see that 'edge' always pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable. Another legend has left the sport, but I think we have some good times still coming and some great legends in the making....
Maybe Michael will still be a part of f1 in the future, we can only wait and see

The real Schu has been gone since '06.
This one is some distant simblance of himself.

Re: Michael Signs Off
I think you're wrong. The real Schu was here may be a little altered by age but he was here and now.
But even the real Schu could have done nothing with a dog car and some bud luck.

Ah, unfortunately it's just a glimpse of what we used to see in the past.
Plus, for me the majic was gone when I saw Schu not in red...

Yip. Last time I considered him the best F1 driver ever, but did not like him.
I wanted him to breakdown and let Hill or whoever pass, but he never did

This time I was actually routing for him to win. Less cybourg, more hman
Actually, its just like Arnie in Terminator 1 and Terminator 2
