The gap between Mazepin and the field was almost 50 seconds until the dying seconds of the session. Luckily we all had him last anyway, but should it happen in future then times would still factor into positions for this game.

Q1 results:

1 = Herb - 60
1 = UnlikeUday - 60
3 - JN23 - 55
4 - Jenson's Understeer - 51
5 - P-F1 Games Master - 50
6 - Tufty - 41
7 - jzusy - 37
8 - Icemanjee1 - 35
9 - Remmirath - 31

With multiple engine penalties, everyone gave Q2 a serious try. In the end it was Russell who lost out the most, failing to set a valid time.

Q2 results:

1 - Jenson's Understeer - 40
2 - JN23 - 35

Not a bad time for me to rack up four successive podiums!

I did some I've got nothing better to do on a Sunday morning math and worked out the average field spread (1st to last) of each round is 65.88 points, with the closest being 40 points and the largest being 125. Although the next biggest is 88, so that 125 was something of an outlier! Anyway, my point of doing this was to remind myself that in reality, a 140 point lead is only two really bad results...

I was looking at a roughly similar thing in Pick 10 as well, and while that's a far closer fight those of us lower down the order can really make a difference with a lucky race or two. Qatar and Saudi will be a nightmare for those of us at the front! I'm doubtful I'll hold 2nd, and while it's unlikely everyone bar A.J. can still pass me. I think the same is true for you, JU.

With 25% of the field taking grid penalties for tomorrow's race, most of us had our predictions a little askew by the time FP3 started. But since none of us really expected a hugely unusual result, coming into qualifying it looked like we'd simply have a slightly lower scoring weekend. We'd soon find out how close our predictions were.

At the point of the red flag, with Stroll now confirmed last, JN23 took the first point of the session by being the only player to predict Lance falling in Q1. Meanwhile, all of us lost 5 points for both Mazepin and Schumacher (assuming Mick beats his teammate again) as they each get promoted one position thanks to the Aston's crash. In the end, there were only 5 points between us all in Q1, and that 1 point did save JN23 from joint last.

Results from Q1:

1 = Jenson's Understeer - 35
1 = Herb - 35
1 = Icemanjee1 - 35
1 = UnlikeUday - 35
1 = Tufty - 35
6 - JN23 - 31
7 = Remmirath - 30
7 = jzusy - 30
7 = P-F1 Games Master - 30

Q2 saw a massive improvement relative to Verstappen by Mercedes, while Perez fell away a bit. Tsunoda and Leclerc ahead of him was a little unexpected.

Results from Q2:

1 - JN23 - 46
2 - Tufty - 26
3 = UnlikeUday - 22
3 = P-F1 Games Master - 22
5 = Jenson's Understeer - 19
5 = jzusy - 19
7 - Remmirath - 17
8 - Icemanjee1 - 16
9 - Herb - 13

Cumulative scores going into Q3:

1 - JN23 - 77
2 - Tufty - 61
3 - UnlikeUday - 57
4 - Jenson's Understeer - 54
5 - P-F1 Games Master - 52
6 - Icemanjee1 - 51
7 - jzusy - 49
8 - Herb - 48
9 - Remmirath - 47

Mercedes played a nice bluff on true pace it seems up until Q2. In the end none of us really expected that, but most of us were similarly disadvantaged at least.

Q3 results:

1 - Jenson's Understeer - 171
2 - jzusy - 159
3 = Icemanjee1 - 152
3 = UnlikeUday - 152
5 - JN23 - 147
6 - Remmirath - 143
7 - Tufty - 141
8 - P-F1 Games Master - 136
9 - Herb - 127

Mexico City Grand Prix results:

1 - JENSON'S UNDERSTEER - 225
2 - JN23 - 224
3 - UNLIKEUDAY - 209
4 - JZUSY - 208
5 - ICEMANJEE1 - 203
6 - TUFTY - 202
7 - REMMIRATH - 190
8 - P-F1 GAMES MASTER - 188
9 - HERB - 175

Championship standings:

1 - JENSON'S UNDERSTEER - 3658 [3 wins, 4 2nd, 4 3rd]
2 - UNLIKEUDAY - 3494 [2 wins, 3 2nd, 2 3rd]
3 - P-F1 GAMES MASTER - 3481 [3 wins, 2 2nd, 2 3rd]
4 - JZUSY - 3441 [1 win, 3 2nd, 3 3rd]
5 - ICEMANJEE1 - 3426 [3 wins, 1 2nd]
6 - JN23 - 3390 [3 wins, 2 2nd, 1 3rd]
7 - TUFTY - 3309 [2 wins, 1 2nd, 1 3rd]
8 - REMMIRATH - 3243 [1 2nd]
9 - HERB - 3198 [1 2nd, 3 3rd]
10 - A.J. - 1687 [1 win, 1 2nd, 1 3rd]

Technically anybody can still win the title, although I think at this point most of us are just trying to get onto or stay on the podium.

I swear you've bribed half the grid to ensure you win this contest! Well played, to come back from that deficit was impressive!

I'm honestly starting to surprise myself a little! It helps that the battle behind me keeps switching around, although I suppose five consecutive podiums doesn't hurt too much, either. But at some point it's got to turn around. I mean my lead has gone from 28 to 32, then jumped to 90, then 124, then 140 and now up to 164, so it's inevitable it'll get eaten into a little sooner or later.

Yeah but at that rate, you can afford it to be eaten into. I'm sure you'd rather keep pulling away but realistically you've got this more or less in the bag.

True, although we have seen a round where 125 points separated first and last, so theoretically that lead could be whittled down with one bad Saturday.
