Do you automatically consider the replacement in place of the predicted driver, or does the player score 0 points for it if they fail to change their prediction in time?

No, there's 3 races per year where you can forget your entries and your previous choices will be substituted. It'll possibly cost A.J. later though if they're all used up early.
