All honesty, I don't even remember my Imola predictions, so was quite surprised to get such a high point scoring.

But it's not entirely fair to those who remember to make their entries. Everyone has 2 weeks typically to register their entry which takes about 5 minutes.

Previous entry being carried forward can also be unfair. Maybe that set of 10 names in a specific order didn't make a big score in the last race but do so in this race inspite of not actively been entered.

I suggest for such entries, the scoring should be cut down to 50%. Saying so as there could be a genuine reason to forget but nonetheless a 50% deduction of the score seems fair.

50 % maybe is little bit too harsh but at least 75 % looks more fair. Nevetheless the idea is for next season because we shouldn't change the rules durin' present one. It's just nice fun now.

The thing is, this came up last season. I was of the opinion that no entry should equal no score, but I climbed down from that position when it was pointed out on that occasion, predictions were not made because people were legitimately locked out of their accounts. However, the rule in place still meant those who couldn't predict scored the average for the round, which meant they beat half the entries. It was suggested a more appropriate penalty is that anyone who didn't get a prediction in scores the same as the lowest score from that round, which I agreed seemed like a better compromise.

Nothing personal against Schumacher forever#1 - and nothing against those who couldn't predict on that occasion, or anyone else in the future who benefits from this rule - but it doesn't feel right that anyone who makes a prediction can finish below someone who doesn't.

This isn't an unlimited reprieve, and it's unlikely that these rollover predictions will usually do so well. A.J. scored 30 points less than his next lowest score in Imola under the same system, beating only Bentrovato. Different tracks seem to send the lower end of the top 10 into such different results the same prediction will almost never yield 2 good scores on the bounce. SF#1 just happened to suffer in the weekend he didn't miss, rather than the one he did. And again, the championship standings do have both players 80-100 points off the lead.

Don't get me wrong, I've in the past looked at what would happen if someone simply predicted the last race's result for each round, and it very rarely worked out as a competitive score. So it stands to reason that in general, using the same prediction isn't going to be beneficial, particularly in a season like this where even in a race without attrition, 5th to 10th could come from up to a dozen drivers.

But... that's beside the point. The point is that if you don't get a prediction in, it should never be beneficial for whatever reason. Automatically scoring the same as the worst score for the round prevents such situations.

I had him P10 in my prediction so was also a little disappointed to see him inevitable getting swallowed up by the guys behind on newer tyres. I'd guess it cost me a shot at the win here?

I also had him P10, and notably didn't have Gasly in my predictions, meaning that I lost points to everyone who did as a double whammy.

In fact, looking at our predictions, they were identical except for swapping HAM/VER and SAI/RIC. One of those swaps I got the better of it (+4), but obviously the other one went your way (-14). We would both have been well towards the top if Alonso finished in P10 and Gasly out of the points. Pisco Sour would still have been ahead, though, with the same gain.

Well this is definitely my best start to a season so far. Of course it could all go pear shaped yet, as it usually does for me
