2021 Pick 10 Competition
2021 PLANETF1 FORUM PICK 10 COMPETITION
It's back again! The rules are simple, pick 10 drivers you think will finish the race in the points and place them in the order you think they will finish. Points are awarded according to the difference your selection is from the race result, providing the selected drivers score points.
Picking driver in correct place earns 25 points.
One place out earns 18 points.
Two places out earns 15 points.
Three places out earns 12 points.
Four places out earns 10 points.
Five places out earns 8 points.
Six places out earns 6 points.
Seven places out earns 4 point.
Eight places out earns 2 point.
Nine places out earns 1 point.
Maximum points per race is 250.
Example for the 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix:
Tip / Result: Points
1: Rosberg / 14th: 0 points
2: Hamilton / 1st: 18 points
3: Bottas / 3rd: 25 points
4: Ricciardo / 4th: 25 points
5: Massa / 2nd: 12 points
6: Vettel / 8th: 15 points
7: Alonso / 9th: 15 points
8: Button / 5th: 12 points
9: Raikkonen / 10th: 18 points
10: Magnussen / 11th: 0 points
Therefore my overall score for Abu Dhabi would be:
140 points
The person who has the most points by the end of the season wins the championship.
Your picks must be entered before Friday Practice 1 and can be changed any time before the session starts (just be sure to let me know). Any late picks will incur a penalty depending on how many sessions have passed, note that one second late is still late.
15 points for FP1
18 points for FP2
25 points for FP3
DNS for Qual
In case the forum temporary closes during a race week and you are unable to submit your entry, your average score from past rounds will be used. Also, as with the Qualifying Competition, up to 3 missed rounds will see the prediction from the previous race being recycled to minimise any losses. After those 3 races, any further missed rounds will score 0 points.
One new rule, designed to help players who miss a weekend or two, sees any missed rounds (up to 3) using the previous weekend's predictions to cover you. This way I hope to minimise players being eliminated from contention by mistakes, which happened to a couple of players last year. Any more than 3 rounds, however, and you start to score 0 for the extra missed races. I would however advise such players (myself included!) to submit their entries soon after the last GP, these entries then can easily be edited nearer the race weekend if need be.
What are you waiting for? Bahrain is closing in fast!

Re: 2021 Pick 10 Competition
I'll be back for this one. I'm optimistically hoping for a very open season in terms of the points places; if testing is to be believed, we might have as many as 16 cars capable of points at any given race weekend.
And if we're very, very lucky, even the top four might be difficult to predict!

Well since someone has to get things going...
1. Verstappen
2. Hamilton
3. Perez
4. Bottas
5. Ricciardo
6. Norris
7. Leclerc
8. Alonso
9. Vettel
10. Gasly
I'm actually kind of excited to see how much variation we get for this race, both between people who think Red Bull are genuinely ahead and those who think Merc have resolved the handling/it was never actually that bad, and then the guessing game that is the McLaren/Aston/Ferrari/Alpeen/AlphaTauri order!

Re: 2021 Pick 10 Competition
I've been mulling over pulling a Rosberg on my defence of the title this year. I'm going to be super busy with work for the next few months, and won't have much time at all to make predictions. But alas, I'd probably regret it if I didn't enter, in case I do in the end get time to fill it out weekly.

Re: 2021 Pick 10 Competition
Well that was one of the most intense lead battles we've seen for a while in F1! In the end it played its part in pushing one player almost 50 points clear of the field today, which is a pretty remarkable swing in any single round.
