I think only PF1 Games Master scored a point today for predicting Hamilton third. Commiserations to Jezza who was close to getting Sainz to finish third right.

Hungarian Grand Prix
Disclaimer: I have removed Vettel from the standings due to his disqualification, even though he was officially second pending appeal. If Aston Martin win the appeal, I will amend the standings in line with that. Hopefully all sorted before Spa.

Esteban Ocon took a shock victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel took second on the road with Lewis Hamilton just behind in third. Vettel was later disqualified for not being able to provide a fuel sample, promoting Carlos Sainz onto the podium.

Hamilton lead away from pole with Max Verstappen starting well whilst Valtteri Bottas got his customary poor wet race start as Lando Norris and Sergio Perez also got past the Fin. Bottas then misjudged his braking point for turn one and went into the back of Norris and eventually hit the Red Bull pair. Bottas was out on the spot, Perez retired later in the lap and Norris during the resulting red flag. Verstappen suffered damage that meant he could only manage ninth position. A clumsy move from Lance Stroll also led to retirements for himself and Charles Leclerc.

By the time the race restarted the track was dry and at the end of the formation lap the whole of the field apart from Hamilton pitted for slick tyres. Hamilton started from the grid by himself whilst everyone was in the pit lane. Pitting at the end of the lap dropped Hamilton all the way to last position of the 14 runners.

Up front, George Russell had to give several places behind after a cheeky move in the pit lane as the light went green meaning Esteban Ocon led Sebastian Vettel and Nicholas Latifi. The leading two were able to stretch a big gap over everyone else as Latifi held the chasing pack of Yuki Tsunoda, Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso up.

An early pit stop by Mercedes enabled Hamilton to undercut the limping pair of Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo which released him into clear hair and let him build a gap on those behind and close on those in front. The pit stop phase at the front saw Sainz jump into P3 by going longer in the first stint and close the gap on the front two.

Hamilton made his way up to P4 and was behind Sainz when he took his final pit stop. Following this he was 2-3 seconds a lap quicker than the front four and quickly caught Alonso. Alonso put up an incredible defence for several laps which halted the Brit's charge and likely secured his teammate's victory. A lock up from Alonso eventually allowed Hamilton through before he quickly dispatched of Sainz.

Esteban Ocon survived pressure from Sebastian Vettel for almost the whole race and took his first Grand Prix victory. Hamilton came home just a second behind the Aston Martin man in third place.

Several hours after the race, Vettel was disqualified for not being able to provide enough of a fuel sample after the race. This promoted Hamilton into second and Sainz into third.

I don't think I've ever managed so many drivers in a write up - 15 I think. Apologies to the Alfa pair, Gasly and the Haas pair.

Individual Championship
Rusty Rockets closes the gap to Icemanjee1 at the top to just two points going into the summer break. Mayhem jumped up a few spots into the upper midfield thanks to their three points. The other point scorers were all towards the bottom and had no effect on the order, it just moved those four further clear of the bottom two.

Team Championship
The gap between the top two remains four points. The only change of note was Drive Sauber jumping above No Limit Excedrin Racing into fourth place.

Next time
We have the four week summer break. After that it comes thick and fast with 12 races in 16 weeks to close out the championship. First up, Spa.

Belgian Grand Prix
Max Verstappen won a very short Belgian Grand Prix ahead of George Russell and title rival Lewis Hamilton.

After one attempt and a long delay, a safety car procession lasting two laps took place, conveniently allowing a race result to be declared.

Points
5 points – Tufty, P-F1 Games Master, Exediron, RustyRockets44

Individual Championship
Unsurprisingly no one predicted a George Russell podium. Perhaps more surprisingly only two predicted a Verstappen win, which banked them five points. Tufty moves from 12th to 8th, P-F1 Games Master remains bottom but is now within touching distance of the pack.

The big news is that RustyRockets44 takes over the lead of the Championship.

Teams Championship
Team Mod move off the bottom of the Teams Championship and jump ahead of Jalopy Racing.

The lead of the Championship has changed hands with THE - Turbo Hybrid Era moving ahead of Team A thanks to RustyRocket44's five points.
