Given the lost posts this week, anyone not entered will receive their average score for the season this weekend, unless they add a new prediction before qualifying.

Thanks P-F1 Mod. I messaged Bentrovato to enter his picks earlier but his account is locked out. I would have entered them for him but the average score will probably suffice.

I'm posting results now, I think the top 10 are all in the clear? If not I'll edit later. The big thing I'll say is that the top scorer today scored their average rather than from an actual prediction, so they won't be credited with the win this round. Everything else is as normal.

BRITISH RESULTS

1 - UNLIKEUDAY - 135 (Average)
2 - MAYHEM - 127 (Credited winner)

I thought I'd changed the average score rule to be for the actual round and now we have a none entry winning the round, however that's how it's written.
PF1 Pick 10 Competition

Certainly how I understood it at any rate. I'm going to rewrite the rule for next year, it's caused too many arguments this year!

Also give me a minute with the scores, I managed to get Albon and Stroll backwards so I need to adjust them

I'm sorry but the average score nonsense just needs removing entirely. There were almost two weeks in which to make a prediction, and those who hadn't been able to predict before FP1 were given an extra day in which to do so. If you still don't get a prediction in then 0 points is completely fair.

Oh, I didn't realise that was the case. In that case I suppose it is more understandable.

I definitely agree it needs to be rewritten for next year. With Bottas and Sainz out of the top 10, this wasn't a high scoring round and having an average score was actually beneficial (I would've scored 15 more points, for example, and I'm sure many others would've been better off with their average too). Perhaps it should just be that if you don't predict, rather than your average score you receive your lowest score from the year. That way there is still a penalty because - let's be honest - we usually all have plenty of time to make a prediction in, but it feels like a better compromise than an average score which, on a low scoring weekend such as this one, is actually going to be a benefit.
Pick 10 | 1st x3, 2nd x3, 3rd x8
2020: 9th | 2019: 11th | 2018: 5th | 2017: 6th | 2016: 8th | 2015: 2nd | 2014: 15th | 2013: 17th | 2012: 11th

Uday would still have won by that metric but I do agree with you that that would be more fair, or the lowest score of any entered player that round.

That sounds like an even better solution, particularly given your point about Uday's worst score still being higher than this round's best score.

I found some irony in the resemblance between Bottas' misfortunes this race and mine (account locked out) in that in both cases it was probably game over in the championship. Lucky for me I was saved by the "average-rule". Now all that needs to happen is for the FIA to take notice of our little competition and apply the same rule to the race results, and I'll be even happier 😁

Hopefully you have a better memory than me, by the time the season started again I would always forget, it definitely needs changing, it's a rule I inherited.

I wonder if we could have a consensus and just give average score for that round, in a low scoring round they are all going to get massive points, also it seems unfair that if you get locked out then you get the lowest scoring points as I've been reading.

It's sheer luck whether they scored high or low. For the most part it was low, the only exception is Uday. Going forward we've fixed the issues for all players so if anyone doesn't enter they simply won't score. I don't want to change the rules mid-season unless it's absolutely necessary, and I don't believe it is unless we have another issue. If that happens I'll definitely revisit the question. But I'll make a note on this year's spreadsheet now to change the average score rule to be joint last for that race.
