I'd love to go against the flow and take back some much-needed points, but I can't see this as anything but another Mercedes walkover...

1. Hamilton
2. Bottas
3. Sergio Perez

I'm going to take a gamble on the third spot, however. I have a feeling that on a power track like this, Red Bull might not be too quick.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix ahead of teammate Valtteri Bottas as Mercedes clinched their seventh consecutive constructors’ title. Daniel Ricciardo completed the podium following a tyre blowout for Max Verstappen who was running second.

It started well for Bottas, who led away from pole position ahead of Verstappen who jumped Hamilton off the line. It looked quite processional early on as the top three pulled away from the midfield which was being led by Ricciardo. Unknown until after his pitstop but Bottas damaged the floor of his car and had debris from another car lodged in his side pods from the second lap.

When Bottas did pit to cover off the undercut from his Red Bull rival he was 24 seconds behind Hamilton and looked in command. However the damage to Bottas’ car and some impressive laps from Hamilton swung the race in the Brits’ favour. Hamilton looked to have a gap that he could pit and come out ahead of his teammate but a virtual safety car caused by the retirement of Esteban Ocon ensured that it wasn’t in doubt. From there he was able to pull away from Bottas and was untroubled for the remainder of the race.

Verstappen passed Bottas into the first chicane after the Fin made a mistake in the middle of the Rivazza corners and looked to have second position in the bag. This was until his tyre exploded after he ran over debris on the main straight. This looked to have handed Sergio Perez a podium but a miscalculation by his Racing Point team saw them pit under the safety car and lose out to other cars that opted not to pit. Ricciardo came home in third place after holding off Daniil Kvyat on the closing laps.

There were no perfect podiums but there 13 of us correctly predicted Hamilton leading a Mercedes 1-2 to pick up eight points.

The only changes in the individual standings are that Exediron moves above Herb and Jezza13 moves above RustyRockets44. There are no changes in the team championship.

Four races to go, next up is Turkey.

Turkish Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton won a record-matching seventh world championship by winning the Turkish Grand Prix from Sergio Perez and Sebastian Vettel.

Lance Stroll led into the first corner but Max Verstappen was slow away and was quickly swallowed up by those behind him. In the early stages the two Racing Point drivers fired their tyres up best and raced away from the field. Sebastian Vettel jumped up to third early on after Hamilton went off track on the first lap. Vettel was able to keep the faster Red Bull drivers behind him, allowing the Racing Point’s ahead to increase their gap.

Drivers started to pit to change from wet tyres to intermediate tyres from lap six and Verstappen was able to jump Vettel after running a bit longer on wet tyres that were already up to temperature and set off after Sergio Perez. Verstappen caught Perez and looked to have a run on the Mexican but a small mistake on the kerb at turn 11 led to him spinning around and dropping down the order.

After managing the early parts of the race well, Stroll started to struggle on his tyres and the chasing pack began to close. At one point the top five were covered by less than ten seconds. An Alex Albon spin in third position promoted Vettel into the podium places after withstanding some heavy pressure from Hamilton behind.

Most of the field started to pit for new intermediate tyres just after half race distance but Perez and Hamilton stayed out with the world champion passing Perez into turn 12 to take the lead. This strategy call from the pair proved pivotal. Leclerc went well on the new intermediates and passed his teammate and closed on Perez.

On the final lap Leclerc attempted to pass Perez for second position at the end of the back straight but couldn’t get the car slowed down allowing Perez to retain second and Vettel back past to complete the podium. Whilst all this was going on behind him, Hamilton drove away from the field and took the chequered flag 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

Everyone who predicted Hamilton to win took five points home, which included the top eight, meaning there was no change at the business end of the individual standings. No one predicted Perez or Vettel to be on the podium so they were the only points on offer. There are no changes in the Team standings but Team Mod fell a little further behind the top two.

Three races to go! Any of the top 12 can still mathematically win the title but realistically it might be the top six who can still win. Six teams can still win the Team Championship but that looks to be down to the top three. Will anyone in the chasing pack take a gamble in the hope a strange result gives them a chance?

Well after last year where I was the deadweight, it seems like it's your turn to drag us down. Maybe next season we'll both be on the money and we can finally reclaim our team crown (or more likely, we'll both be nowhere!)
