Perez gets pitted out of a likely P3 in Imola. Leclerc loses P3 at the last corner in Turkey. And now Perez again loses a certain P3 in Bahrain. At this stage, it borderline deserves points of its own

Bahrain Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton won the Bahrain Grand Prix ahead of Red Bull pair Max Verstappen and Alex Albon after Romain Grosjean walked away from a horrific crash where his car caught fire.

Hamilton started well from pole position whilst his teammate slipped back behind the Verstappen and the fast starting Sergio Perez. The race was quickly red flagged after Grosjean’s accident and the car’s returned to the pit lane. The race restarted with Hamilton starting well again and Perez briefly challenged Verstappen for second place before falling behind the Dutchman.

From there on it wasn’t the most exciting race with Hamilton comfortably ahead of Verstappen with the pair pulling well clear of Perez, who in turn was comfortably ahead of Albon. It looked like Perez was set for a second consecutive podium until his engine failed in the closing laps, allowing Albon to take his second podium of the season.

Another win for Hamilton but the biggest story of the day is undoubtedly Grosjean only suffering minor injuries from his crash. It was great to see him walk away with only minor injuries.

A lot of us picked Hamilton to win but three picked Hamilton to win with Verstappen in second, so well done to Mayhem, Jezza13 and Mod Titanium.

The big news in the standings is that Mod Titanium has closed to within just two points of long time leader Remmirath. It looks like the championship might just be between those two but a perfect podium next week could definitely put those behind back into contention.

Jalopy Racing have jumped ahead of F1 Rockets into fifth place in the team championship. The gap between the top two remains at 16 points with a total of 56 points still available to both teams.

As with the other predictions competitions on this forum, we'll do private picks for the Abu Dhabi race for those in contention for either championship. Obviously there's still the Bahrain outer loop race first, which I'm rather intrigued about but worried it could be not very good.

Sorry about that.

I'm going to keep my prediction as it is and hope that there is some kind of weird intrateam balancing act whereby if we both predict the same driver in 3rd, my prediction cancels out the Exediron curse
