Game advice please.

OK all. Could you please advise me on the best motor racing games available for the Xbox One X? I'm hearing lots of good things about Assetto Corsa as whist the graphics aren't the best, they cars are great to drive as that's where they've put the time and effort into with the game.

I'm after true racing on real circuits with real racing cars, not street racing in modified crap!

F1 and WEC racing would be top of the list.

I know there's the official F1 game which I may invest in, but I'm looking for a game with variety of cars and circuits.

Reasons for your choices would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

FOM doesn't like to let other games have current F1 cars, so in terms of F1 you'll usually just find classic cars or something that's almost-but-not-quite F1.

(everything below is for consoles; I know there are better pure simulators available for PC)

Assetto Corsa is probably the best in terms of driving modeling across the range of cars. Project Cars 2 is inconsistent; graphically better, and some of the cars are really well modeled - but others are a bit of a miss. PC2 has a good IndyCar model and a lot of Indy tracks, if that matters to you.

The latest F1 games stop shy of being simulation quality, but they are honestly pretty decent at the 'casual sim' level. People who call them arcade games are either stuck in the past or just exaggerating. I'm not at this time aware of any game that simulates the WEC calendar accurately, but you can certainly find some endurance cars and tracks in Assetto Corsa or Project Cars 2.

Thanks for that.

I've not played it myself, but Forza 7 has a pretty comprehensive list of cars, including Indy and WEC. Not sure about the circuits though.

Project Cars 2 currently on sale on the PS Store. You can get the Deluxe Edition for $30, down from a hundred and something in Aus
