I predicted Verstappen to gain the most positions at Monza. He gained 11 (19 to 8th), but so did Perez (17 to 7th). How does GP Predictor score ties for most positions gained? Obviously I think you should award 10 pts to those who pick either driver when there is a tie.

Second question... Does anyone have a working email address for GPpredictor? Under "Contact" on the website (or app), the offered email, "contact@gppredictor" does not, and never has worked.

That’s exactly why we stopped using the web site for this game and I do the scoring on our forum members based on the format from page 1. The inconsistency and the tardiness in correcting the scoring is just some of the huge failures with this app they forced everyone to use..... the email address is the only contact they have, takes 2 weeks to get a reply as I did have contact with them early on. Good luck with getting a response.

Monza update

Imagehttps://static.standard.co.uk/s3fs-publ ... ffset-y0.5

The temple of speed! The fastest F1 circuit and home of Ferrari. Coming off their first win of the season could they win where it mattered most?

Heading into qualifying Ferrari had lead every practice session but to everyone’s surprise the pace wasn’t as blistering as everyone expected. What was more surprising was the fact that Mercedes was less then a tenth from Ferrari on 1 lap pace. The Ferrari of Charles Leclerc was on rails and looked poised for pole. First runs in Q3 was quite the shoot out as Leclerc lead the way but it was both Merc’s whom split the Ferraris as Vettel could only manage 4th. With a red flag stopping the session everyone awaited in the garage for that one last chance at pole. All cars stayed in side until the 2min mark and that’s when everything went down the toilet. With tow being such a deciding factor here all cars were jockeying for position driving unnecessarily slow, all trying to out fox one another. What a mess, no one wanted to lead the pack resulting in no one being able to overtake another car. Finally Carlos sainz took off and everyone gained speed but to no avail as only Carlos sainz and Leclerc crosses the line to start their final runs. The remaining 8 cars all failed to cross the line, what a joke.....

One race day Leclerc lead the way as Lewis Hamilton gave chase for most of first stint. Hamilton using up all the rubber came in for the undercut and slapped on mediums. Leclerc came in 1 lap later slapped on the hard’s it was close down the pit exit but Ferrari pit crew pulled off a better stop for their man allowing Leclerc to keep the lead. Hamilton with give it all with the tire advantage and chase down Leclerc inching closer to the Ferrari. The two would come dangerously close forcing Hamilton to evade resulting in a black/white flag for Leclerc. The fight for the lead would resume a few laps later when Leclerc would make an error on turn 1. Leclerc pulled off a double move in the braking zone surely a penalty? no? The Ferrari was just to slippery in the straight and Lewis couldn’t hang on coming out of the Parabolica. Lewis would use up his tires resulting in another pit stop and putting bottas in the hunt for the win. But a last bottas couldn’t get it done making two errors of his own and not being able to close up to Leclerc. The Ferrari would go on to win at home and win a hard fought race.......

Singapore

Imagesource https://cdn-1.motorsport.com/images/amp ... 9-ra-3.jpg

The Singapore Grand Prix, a street circuit that not only test’s a drivers physical conditioning but their mental strength as well. With its narrow corridors, 23 turns and walls just millimeters away the mental focus is crucial here.

Coming into Singapore the talk was all about could Redbull take the fight to Mercedes here? Could Mercedes win with a similar pace to last year. Well in fp1 it was Redbull on top but it wasn’t Mercedes who followed. It was Sebastian Vettel splitting verstappen and Hamilton which did raise some eye brows. In fp2 it was then Hamilton leading verstappen followed by Vettel .8 tenths behind. Which was shaping up to be about what everyone expected. But in fp3 it was Charles Leclerc leading the way with the fastest time of the weekend. Wait what?? Ferraris new aero package worked? And they did what? No one saw this coming and much confusion to follow.

In Q1 Mercedes lead the way but everyone was wondering just how fast could Ferrari go? Well it didn’t take long because in Q2 Ferrari broke into the 1:36.6 mark and looked to have more in reserve. The pace was real so could Mercedes answer back? In Q3 Vettel put down 1:36.4 beating Leclerc best run by .200 heading into the final run. But it fell apart for Vettel once again in the final attempt as he aborted the lap but Charles Leclerc was going all out with a wild slippery run and claimed yet another pole postion.

At lights out Leclerc lead the way with Hamilton and Vettel Racing early. Vettel desperate to get by and Hamilton not wanting to yield the position. The top 10 cars we’re managing their tires for the first 15 laps and then the race was truly underway with everyone looking for a gap to come out on pit exit and here is where things got tricky. Vettel & verstappen come in for the undercut on Hamilton. Hamilton puts pressure on Leclerc and stays out as Leclerc pits. Leclec then rejoins the track but is now just behind Vettel. Hamilton is now leading the race but needs to create a plus 28 second gap to maintain the lead but Vettel is closing that gap at a blistering pace. Mercedes now caught off guard continue to leave Hamilton out which made absolutely no sense to anyone. A safety car would have helped them for sure but it was not to be as Hamilton finally pitted and rejoined 4th.
Vettel takes over the lead and would never look back as he would cruise to his 1st victory of the season ending his winless drought since spa of last year.

Russia update

Image
source https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/cXdde ... b7395a8f19

Ferrari’s new change inform made them the favorites coming into Russia and they certainly looked the part. Topping 2/3 practice sessions. Leclerc once again show casing some serious pace heading into qualifying. As he was he only driver to dip into the 1:31 mark and claiming yet another pole. But just like in Singapore Hamilton was able to split the Ferraris.

On race day Ferrari’s plan was simple keep Mercedes behind and at lights out it was coming to fruition as Vettel launched from p3 to p1. With Ferrari holding 1 & 2 they began to pull away. But then Ferrari starting to trip over themselves as Leclerc was supposed to get P1 back Vettel wasn’t playing ball. Vettel never lifted to allow Leclerc to regain the position and Leclerc had to fall back to not destroy his tires. This now played into Hamilton’s hands as he started on the mediums and could push Leclerc.

Leclerc was the first front runner to pit followed by Vettel a few laps later. Leclerc completed the undercut and Ferrari gave p1 back to Leclerc through pit stops. Lewis Hamilton now the race leader would go for the over cut attempt against the Ferraris
But as luck would have it Vettel suffered mgu-K failure which brought out a virtual safety car which gave Mercedes not one but two free stops. Lewis Hamilton now leading the race on fresh rubber and as vsc was ending George russel suffered brake failure and brought out a full safety car. Ferrari now contemplating bringing in Leclerc once again for a set of soft tires but the decision was left too late as Leclerc lost p2 to bottas. Had the decision been made sooner Leclerc would have kept p2.

Mercedes now 1-2 with Leclerc 3rd the charge was now on from Leclerc. But with to no effect as Leclerc was not able to pass bottas. As Mercedes hang on to steal this one from Ferrari.

Congratulations to Icemanjee1 for winning the Russian GP

Japan update

Image
https://www.grandprix.com.au/sites/defa ... P-Wrap.jpg

Suzuka a historical track on the F1 calendar that has seen the drivers championship decided in dramatic fashion. Coming into japan there was a lot of speculation of how good the Mercedes upgrade was expected to be. As both drivers were expecting a significant package. In practice it appeared to be just that as Mercedes topped both practice sessions by a good margin over the field. Their race pace looked even more impressive so they were the clear favorites going into qualifying. So it was quite the surprise to everyone when the full Ferrari fury was unleashed in Q3 locking out the front row yet again with Sebastian Vettel leading the charge.

At lights out both Ferrari’s got to a dreadful start. Both Vettel and Leclerc got away slow. Vettel actually jumps the start and slams on the breaks which may have thrown off leclercs timing. But what it certainly did was opened the door for Valtteri bottas to get the jump on both Ferrari’s allowing him to take the lead of the race before turn 1!! The troubles then continued for Ferrari as Leclerc cuts across the track collecting max verstappen and severely damaging his front wing. Leclerc now told to pit but ignoring he call which could cause Hamilton to lose a lot of time behind him. Eventually Leclerc would come in resulting in him having to battle from the back of the field and would be under investigation for his collision with max. But what of Vettel’s jump start? Well the stewards would determine “no further action” for this particular offense.

Up front we have bottas, Vettel and Hamilton with bottas pulling away from Vettel. Hamilton in a lonely 3rd as he would fall behind the opening pace. As the race developed Vettel blinked first pitting for yet another set of soft tires. Mercedes quickly covering, pitting bottas for mediums and leaving Hamilton out. Hamilton now leading the race but is quickly losing time to both bottas and Vettel. Mercedes box hamilton giving him a set of medium tires but then is told he will need to pit again? Hamilton unclear of the strategy questions the call and asks why wasn’t he given the hard tires of wear was that critical? With all of the front runners now on two stop strategies it was pretty much a sealed win for bottas as Mercedes wouldn’t risk keeping Hamilton to a one stopper In order to secure the constructors championship in Suzuka. Bottas would go on to win the race as Ferrari would let this one slip through their fingers.

Congratulations to Jn23 for winning the Japanese GP
