I really considered putting Ricciardo in, but it just seems so unlikely. I feel a bit iffy about the Ferraris in that order (especially if it does rain), but Vettel's Silverstone record has been rather dubious, and I feel like I need to try doing something that's not exactly what a bunch of other people are doing. Watch that come back to haunt me, though!

I think Kimi is better around here than Seb but I'm a wary of team orders or bad strategy hampering him to be honest.

2017 BRITISH GRAND PRIX RESULTS

The good news is, everyone scored points!

The bad news is, everyone scored pretty much the same points. Of the contestants who filed an entry, 100% of them predicted a Hamilton victory, so dominant was the British favorite's pace in practice. And he delivered; everybody got five points for that one. With his teammate known in advance to have a 5-place grid penalty, 82% of the field also went for Hamilton's championship rival to take second. However, they either forgot that Vettel has horrible form in Silverstone, or blindly ignored the fact! In a fit of irony, after the dust (and shreds of Ferrari rubber) had settled, it was actually Valtteri Bottas in second place - the man everyone had ditched from the second spot, knowing he had a gearbox penalty. And so it was that the two winners were both people who never altered their predictions: scoring 8 points for getting the top two right, it's congratulations for Jenson's Understeer and theferret!

Honorable mention to Remmirath, who - being the only one bold enough to predict Raikkonen in second - would have won, and possibly had a perfect podium to boot, if the Ferrari cars hadn't started blowing up their tyres.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Place - 8 points
Jenson's Understeer, theferret

Second Place - 6 points
Bentrovato, Fountoukos13, robins13, Lotus49, Icemanjee1

Third Place - 5 points
Everybody else except for Ruste13

Did Not Start
Ruste13

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With all entrants who made an entry separated by no more than three points this round, movement in the championship was pretty muted.

mcdo and Herb remain in station at the top, but third position has changed hands, with Icemanjee1 breaking the tie with TheDamus and moving ahead by one point. A little further down, Bentrovato jumps ahead of Black_Flag_11 for seventh place, continuing the run of form he kicked off with his perfect podium last time out. Jenson's Understeer is another mover in the round, shooting forward to enter the three-way tie on 32 points, along with his teammate.

The big loser of the round is Ruste13, who filed a second consecutive DNS; he drops from thirteenth all the way to seventeenth, as theferret, cm97, Fountokos13 and Lotus49 all shoot past.

Individual Standings - Round Ten

1. mcdo --- 47 Points
2. Herb -- 44 Points
3. Icemanjee1 --- 43 Points
4. TheDamus --- 42 Points
5. TypingChicane --- 41 Points
6. Jezza13 --- 39 Points
7. Bentrovato --- 37 Points
8. Black_Flag_11 --- 36 Points
9. Exediron --- 32 Points (1 Perfect Podium)
~ 10. Mayhem --- 32 Points (0 Perfect Podiums, 2 Wins)
~ 10. Jenson's Understeer --- 32 Points (0 Perfect Podiums, 2 Wins)
12. Remmirath --- 30 Points
13. theferret --- 29 Points
14. cm97 --- 27 Points
15. Fountoukos13 --- 27 Points
16. Lotus49 --- 26 Points
17. Ruste13 --- 24 Points
18. robins13 --- 20 Points

With almost everyone scoring the same, it's not going to come as a surprise that the team standings remain largely the same.

But what is going to come as a surprise is that they actually moved around a lot! McLotus passes Drive Sauber for second, and both Massa Attack and No Limit Excedrin Racing pass the struggling 2016 champions for fifth spot.

Team Standings - Round Ten

1. Jalopy Racing (Herb & Jezza13) --- 83 Points
2. McLotus (Lotus49 & mcdo) --- 73 Points
3. Drive Sauber (Remmirath & TheDamus) --- 72 Points
4. Bernie's Bwoah (Icemanjee1 & cm97) --- 70 Points
5. Massa Attack (theferret & Bentrovato) --- 66 Points
6. No Limit Excedrin Racing (Exediron & Jenson's Understeer) --- 64 Points
7. Mind Your Manors (Black_Flag_11 & Fountoukos13) --- 63 Points
8. Sand Bag'n (robins13 & Mayhem) --- 52 Points

The real championship has tightened up to only 1 point as we head to Hungary, and it's almost as close in the Top Three. A perfect podium could still launch anyone ahead of me into the lead, and the season is yet long. Will Hungary produce a more predictable result? Only time will tell, but probably not, if the season to date is anything to go by!

After Bottas' gearbox penalty was announced, I actually came into this thread to edit my prediction, only to decide better of it and to keep the faith with my prediction. Quite glad I did for once! Would've been even better had Seb got to the end of the race without a puncture (although I suppose you could also argue it would've been a lot worse had Kimi not suffered his!)

TheDamus (5) 5 vs. 6 (6) Fountoukos13
Icemanjee1 (6) 6 vs. 5 (5) Remmirath
Black_Flag_11 (5) 5 vs. 6 (6) Lotus49
Herb (5) 13 vs. 8 (8) Jenson's Understeer
TypingChicane (5) 5 vs. 0 (DNS) Ruste13
mcdo (5) 13 vs. 8 (8) theferret
Mayhem (5) 5 vs. 5 (5) cm97
Exediron (5) 5 vs. 10 (5) Jezza13

After Austria, a round in which only three participants scored, Silverstone was the complete opposite: only Ruste13 (who did not enter a prediction) failed to score a point. This means that a lot of the match-ups are still incredibly close: half of them are separated by a point or less, while the other half only see a five point advantage. It leaves us with a number of potential upsets as of the higher seeds (the first name in each match-up) only Herb, TypingChicane and mcdo are currently holding any kind of significant advantage. At the same time, the only lower ranked seed to be ahead by more than a point is Jezza13, so it could yet be that our top 8 all reach the quarter-finals. An awful lot to play for in the final race of this round next weekend in Hungary!

CHAMPIONSHIP PERSPECTIVE

As we reach the halfway point of the season, I like to look back on past seasons to see how we compare.

2017
Individual Leader (mcdo) -- 48 Points
Team Leader (Jalopy Racing) -- 83 Points

2016
Individual Leader (robins13) -- 62 Points
Team Leader (Fire & Ice) -- 104 Points

2015
Individual Leader (Jenson's Understeer) -- 56 Points
Team Leader (F1 Mayhem) -- 106 Points

Clearly, this year is harder to predict on average than the last two. Although it bears noting that in 2016, robins13 was the only one above 50; it wasn't so much that the year was predictable as that he was simply dominant that season!

The big standout is the team championship, where none of the teams have managed to put together consistently high scoring from both drivers. The first, second or third placed teams from both prior years would be leading the team championship this year.

Another point of caution for everyone, lest ye become too comfortable (or worried) with your position: robins13 is the only one of those names who went on to actually win the title. The other champions were no higher than third at this point in the season. As they say in F1, anything can happen, and it usually does! :]

Nope, you're right. Apparently I'm too tired and drunk to run this darn thing!

Okay, altered scores standings are up and should be accurate! Only three people, and no teams, lost positions as a result: TypingChicane goes from 3rd back down to 6th, and TheFerret regains the two positions cm97 and Lotus49 were credited with.

Hopefully it's correct now. :-P
