I agree. In this competition, a 13 point deficit to the leader with 12 races to go means very little. Last year I was second from bottom after the Austrian GP and still finished 3rd. And now with the joker system in place I expect much bigger up- and downturns over the course of the season.

It's not just the gap, although being last by a huge chunk is certainly not where I want to be. I just feel that I'm already in a lot of competitions, and for the time it takes me to put together this slate I almost always get frustrated and disappointed with the results. I still think it's an interesting and different way to run a prediction competition, but it just doesn't seem to be the right fit for me.

From next weekend on, I may leave out the players from the table that have stopped playing (theferret and Exediron).
In case even more participants stop playing or forget to post their entries (I hope not!), this is is what the bonus calculation would be, using the method explained in the OP:
