Not sure if I'll be able to watch the finale as I'll be leaving for a holiday on Saturday morning (anyone know how you can watch F1 on the Canary Islands?)
Which island you going to? I know a few sports bars in Tenerife and Lanzarote... failing that, depending on your WiFi speed I can PM you an app for android...

Anyhow, my final picks of the season:

1. Nico Rosberg (yes I think he'll surprise us all and dominate it)
2. Lewis Hamilton (a bad start and a futile recovery drive)
3. Daniel Ricciardo
4. Max Verstappen
5. Sebastian Vettel
6. Kimi Raikkonen
7. Nico Hulkenberg
8. Sergio Perez
9. Valtteri Bottas
10. Felipe Massa
Cheers, PM'd you!

Not to be 'that guy' but in future, to deter people more from taking a second near-free practice skip, is it worth penalising 15 for FP1, AND 18 for FP2 AND 25 for FP3? I realise that's a heavier hit by almost three times [and that I would have taken a 33 point hit rather than 18 earlier this year] but it might be fairer with the extra information that some are getting for what could be a small price.

Obviously thinking for next year at the earliest, and I make a point of not running these games, but just a thought. Feel free to shoot me down :)

It's something that's occurred to me more than once during my time in this competition as well; the penalty gap between FP1 and FP2 is way too slight. The information you get from FP2 is far more relevant to the race, and comes at essentially no cost. I don't know that stacking them together is necessarily the right way to go - that's more a matter of discretion - but I do feel that the actual numbers need tweaking.

As it stands, I've actually considered tactically waiting until FP2 to file predictions when I'm particularly uncertain of the result - it's not too hard to recover 18 points with better knowledge of the pecking order.

I wouldn't be too surprised if people have tried tactical late voting in the past and come somewhat unstuck and that's why basically you see no one doing it now, a late entry means that you are basically picking 9 drivers instead of 10.

I remembered when I first started doing the competition I experimented with late voting after FP1, FP2 and FP3 and then compared the results of these with my actual on time picks, I always submit my entry on time. ;)

I have sometimes wondered about late entries and then looked to see if the entrants have used the extra time to good effect and then been baffled by what they have picked.

They were basically just late entries.

From what I have seen people just forget and by on large are disappointed that they have forgotten and in the past my reaction to a close rival having submitted a late entry is that it puts them on the back foot and I always considered the advantage to be with me.

I am sure if I had given Blackhander the option of submitting a entry just a few minutes late without penalty rather than a much later tactical entry he would have bitten my hand off and I think coulthards chin sums it up quite well for quite a few people after realising they are late, BALLS.

So in summarisation I think the penalty is enough of a deterrent and also if you over penalise you may run the risk of the competitor losing interest if he ends up with a terrible round.

I would have jumped at any chance for a free vote both times I've been late this year, however it's all part of the game as well so I would never expect one or even ask. First time I simply forgot it was on, yesterday I got my timings an hour out and came on to submit my picks only to see that I had already missed the jump. However due to the numbers once you miss one in my mind you're better off waiting until after fp2 if for no other reason than potential engine penalties.

I think maybe a slight adjustment of the numbers might work, say reduce fp1 penalty to 12 points and increase fp2 to 20. But I don't think adding each successive penalty would work, as one late week could then scupper someone's entire season. Having said that the key is definitely not to be late...

2-Rosberg
3-Ricciardo
4-Verstappen
5-Vettel
6-Raikonnen
7-Perez
8-Hulkenberg
9-Bottas

Although I would find it hilarious if all the secret picks are the same. We did secret picks for the finale in the Top 3 competition last year, and of the five people submitting them, four had identical selections.
