Shout out to P-F1 Games Master for getting their points since Imola.
Ouch!

I don't feel bad about not predicting that result any more accurately than I did. Only a fool would have bet on the correct two below Max.
I got points? Must be a mistake, I demand a recount

So with the first sprint qualifying coming up at Silverstone what will be the deadline? First practice on Saturday still?

Good question.

I think there are two options:

1. The deadline is before Friday qualifying
2. The deadline is before practice 2 on Saturday (as Espo suggests)

I'm open to other suggestions and will probably go with what people on here think.

One thing I am conscious of though, is that some players post their picks on a Friday night/Saturday morning (UK time) and I'm not sure how much time they spend on the forum other than that, I don't want them to miss out because of the late deadline change.

Thoughts everyone?

I would say it has to be before the Friday qualifying session. Qualifying is too informative of the pecking order for it to make sense to file predictions after a qualifying session has taken place.

Yep this is a good point - I'll give it another day or two to see if anyone else has any thoughts.

My initial concern (not that it is or should be anyone else’s problem. 😂) was start time for practice 1 and qualifying because I thought I would be going in blind while others would have practice to base picks off of. At least at silverstone quali starts at 10am, so it will work out for me.

I do agree though that qualifying would show what the pecking order will likely be.

SPRINT QUALY DEADLINE RULES

The deadline for to submit picks for races with sprint qualifying races (Silverstone this weekend, Monza + one other) will be the start of the Friday qualifying session. For this weekend, qualifying starts at 18:00 BST, so that will be the deadline for submitting picks.

Doing a quick banker, in case I forget that the deadline is earlier than usual... But I'm not likely to be checking practice times before qualifying this weekend, so this is also probably my final prediction.

I think this is the most split we've been predicting a winner all season. It'll be interesting to see which side is right!

British Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton won a record equalling eighth British Grand Prix ahead of Charles Leclerc and Valtteri Bottas, as championship leader Max Verstappen retired after a first clash collision with Hamilton.

Verstappen led away from pole and covered off Hamilton into the first braking point, before the two went side by side on the Wellington Straight. Verstappen stayed ahead but Hamilton got a great slipstream on the old pit straight and the pair made contact at Copse with Verstappen ending up in the barrier.

The race was red flagged with Leclerc leading the restart, from Hamilton (with a ten second time penalty), Lando Norris and Bottas. The front two pulled away but unexpectedly Hamilton wasn’t able to get close to Leclerc and attempt an overtake.

The first of the front-runners to pit was Norris but a stuck right rear cost him time and his third position to Bottas who pitted a lap later to take advantage. Hamilton was next and after serving his ten-second penalty came out in fifth position. Leclerc pitted a lap later and comfortably retained his lead.

Hamilton quickly dispatched of Norris to reach third place after Carlos Sainz pitted, and caught teammate Bottas who was given the order not to hold us the Brit. This left Hamilton closing down Leclerc’s lead in the last ten laps, eventually catching and passing him at Copse on lap 50.

The win closes the gap in the drivers championship to just eight points.

Points
6 points – Espo, Exediron, Bentrovato, Herb, JN23, P-F1 Games Master
5 points – F1 Tyrant, Remmirath
1 point – Icemanjee 1, Mod Titanium, Mayhem, A.J.

Individual Championship
Icemanjee1 extends his lead by a point over RustyRockets44, it now stands at five points.
Espo jumps ahead of F1Tyrant into third.

Teams Championship
No changes in the order but Team A’s lead is down to four points over THE and nine over Overrated Legends Racing.

It seems there is a clear top five (separated by 14 points) and bottom three (separated by 1 point) emerging in the Team’s Championship.

Next time
The last race before the summer break is upon us already! Will we see more action between the two title contenders?

I'll take it. I'm not sure it was the correct prediction based on pace -- I think Max would have won if not for the incident at Copse -- but I got the maximum realistic score, and that's nothing to complain about.

I feel like Max will be the guy to beat once he sorts out the balance of his car, but between the possibility of that not happening and the options Mercedes will have to split their strategy with Perez inevitably starting out of position, this is the safer prediction.
