Got you a gift! Don't know about the rest of you but whenever me or one of my brothers goes into hospital (thankfully rare) that is usually the care package someone in the family will bring.

Don't know about the rest of you but whenever me or one of my brothers goes into hospital (thankfully rare) that is usually the care package someone in the family will bring.

Hahaha, thank you so much. I have to say, hospital food gets some bad reputation, but the food they gave me was edible alright! Which was another plus, as well as the two very sexy nurses and the friendly staff. I'd do it again, although I'm not planning to break another ligament any time soon

Had someone contact my old lecturer about wanting me to join them on some fieldwork because they'd read my dissertation online! Also finding out that I can see how many times it (and everyone else's on my course) has been downloaded and discovering mine's a lot more than anybody else. Not really sure why but I'm not going to complain!

Thanks! A few complications pre-birth so she's a bit early but all going well now so we can relax. Sadly I won't see her until summer cos of uni, but worth waiting for!

some of those are great. I remember him being the guest host on Buzzcocks and he no issue extracting the urine out of himself, which for some reason is something I really repect in people!

Sometimes you just really enjoy where you work. The boss cracking open some absinthe and giving us all some was definitely the highlight of my week.

Due to the strict nature of my diet at the moment, I was still able to have big macs twice this week, and not go over any of my RDA.

Ha, not exactly, but it was fantastic!

Just come back from Canada, skiing through trees, jumping off cliffs (not too huge ones), getting stuck in powder, and generally doing my best not to get killed while doing so.

On a scale of 1 to awesome, it was probably about 11.5


This is a friend we skied with at the top of small cliff, leading down to a narrow gully.


For anyone who's interested in skiing (and a reasonable standard), Revelstoke in BC is among the best places I've ever skied. The town's a bit pants and there're only two chairs and a gondola on the mountain, but the runs are very long and steep, and the glades (they thinned out a massive amount of trees) are amazing - having loads of powder to ski in helps a lot too!

We only did 3 full days at Revelstoke and then took the Greyhound to Banff for another 5 days skiing Sunshine and Lake Louise, but three days was enough for me - it's hard work on the legs when it's that steep and deep.

I'd only recommend Revelstoke to strong intermediate skiers and above, definitely not a family or learners resort, but if you're up for a challenge it's a real hoot.

Off-piste isn't really a term used in North America, it's either groomed, un-groomed, or out of bounds / back country. They measure resorts in terms of total skiable acreage (usually anything inside the ski area boundary), and encourage people to ski the whole mountain, whereas in Europe it's all about kilometres of piste.

If you're happy skiing bumps and powder then it's definitely the place to go, but I'd strongly recommend joining a lesson first (they run group lessons specifically for that purpose), or at the very least go on one of the free mountain tours. It's a big mountain with large areas of trees, not all obstacles (cliffs etc.) are clearly marked, and you could easily end up out of your depth if you head in the wrong direction.

We got a really good deal on accommodation (2 free lift tickets per room for every night's stay in Revelstoke), so 11 nights in Canada worked out cheaper than going to a decent resort in Europe - another point on the awesomeness scale.

Starting to think there is a direct correlation between nice weather and bigger tips. Either that or it's something to do with the days my boss pours us alcohol...

Yes there is! People are happier and generally more generous when happy. Don't know what kind of work you do, but from working in kitchens, waiting tables and bar, I used to always manage to coax money out of people on nice days

My healthy eating thing is going swimmingly. I've lost a stone since I started 4/5 weeks ago, so I get to celebrate with chocolate. Annoyingly though, it still doesn't look like I've lost any weight, but my clothes are fitting much better, so I know that I have.

This can be an awesomeness or annoyance, depending on what side of the story you're on. Too often, people get on the bus, normally when I'm in a rush, and in an attempt to get a free journey, hand the bus driver a £20 note (where some of these people get such large amounts of currency I do not know). Then, when the bus driver refuses to let him on, they start arguments and it has made me late on many occasions.

Today, a man got on the bus, and with a smug look on his face, handed the driver one of said £20 notes. The driver asked politely if he had anything smaller, and when the man said something along the lines of "nah mate, if you ain't got the change you're gonna have to let me on for free, innit." (Clearly not the sharpest tool) The driver then produced the change of 18.45 intirely in silver. The bloke had to walk through Croydon rattling like a piggy bank.

That's great! It annoys me when bus drivers aren't given enough notes to.change 20's for their shift, but that guy sounds like a tool and got what he asked for!

Saw this and really do have to agree with you. Truly awesome.

Snowmobiled to work as usual, advertised machine online. Guy looked at it midmorning, cheque in hot little hand by lunchtime.
Had to take a taxi home though, but still awesome.

One of my stress releases is playing guitar. Tonight, it's late, and I can't really play indoors without waking anyone up. So i took my acoustic guitar and went over the road to a field/open, public bit of green. Just sitting, playing by the moonlight (this is a romanticism, it's rather cloudy tonight). About 10 minutes in, a cat slowly approached, maybe investigating the light from the candle I bought so I could see. Anyway, I stopped and looked at it, and when I did, it looked at me, as if to ask why I stopped. So I carried on playing. That little cat stayed with me for a while, just watching me play. It was one of the most adorable things I've ever seen. I don't want to sound all spiritual and talk alot of crap about how I connected with the cat or something, but I know it's what I needed and feel better now
