Graduation stuff sorttted! Now to not fall over...
I'm doing my Masters just now (so my 5th year of uni, seeing as I'm Scottish so my undergrad course was 4 years!) I don't know what subject you're doing, but what I can say about the experience is that it is a lot of hard work but very rewarding; you get a lot of satisfaction from the progress you make. My Masters is half-coursework and half-research based, and I'm only a few weeks away from handing in my dissertation, and it's been quite an experience!Tufty wrote:Thanks guys Not just one year Rachie, I'm looking at an MA too.
Enjoy it! It's a fun day. I was worried about falling over too, even more so because I wanted to wear heels with my dress! But luckily I managed itRachie_D wrote:Graduation stuff sorttted! Now to not fall over...
I've gone against heels as I never normally wear them anyway. If I stick with flats and crawl across the stage then I can't fall!FlyingScot wrote:Enjoy it! It's a fun day. This truly is awesome!AngusWolfe wrote:My stereo system is getting a bit old, and it doesn't like some CDs. It doesn't like any tapes and the only radio station it can pick up is Radio 3, but i rarely use them so it doesn't bother me. When we had a small gathering yesterday, it was chosen to be used because it's a 3 disc autochanger, so we didn't have to change CDs too often, and it's still reasonably loud. My little brothers NOW collections and JLS albums were not liked by my little old stereo, and gave out nothing but static or "no disc" messages. but Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, Queen's Greatest Hits II, and Thin Lizzy's Black Rose came through crystal clear
for big birds anyway, sounds like the mice are having a fairy cakes time!Rachie_D wrote:Heard a tawny owl outside the past couple of nights. Combined with the sparrowhawks I saw a couple of weeks ago and the buzzards I saw circling the Co-op the other day I'd say my town's doing well for wildlife atm!
Nah, the birds are too lazy to hunt. See what people drop when they come out of the shop, much easierminchy wrote:for big birds anyway, sounds like the mice are having a fairy cakes time!Rachie_D wrote:Heard a tawny owl outside the past couple of nights. linkyThe 28-year-old spent a week in the studio laying down an R&B single in Los Angeles.
And then he jetted back to the Mediterranean to share time on a luxury yacht off Ibiza with Mercedes overlord Niki Lauda
My hometown. Edinburgh, that is, not Chester Zoo! You going to the festival?Rachie_D wrote:Got a lovely few days coming up. Edinburgh tomorrow and Chester Zoo this weekend. Oh yeh and British Superbikes on the Sunday

This years festeval has the show with the best neme I've ever heard - "Brendon Burns and Colt Cabana Sit in a Fifty-Seater Around Midnight and Provide the Commentary to Bad Wrestling Matches". I haven't watched wrestling in a long time, but that sounds amazing. It's been a long standing goal of mine to go to the festeval and see how little i can spendRachie_D wrote:Yeah. You can't go wrong with most days racing at British circuits when it isn't F1! I had a VIP day at Croft BTCC last year, with a grid walk, paddock pass, meeting the drivers and teams and a BBQ lunch and beer (none of this poncey F1 gourmet buffet and champagne nonsense) all for just £65. I dread to think how much it would have been for the same at an F1 event.Saz wrote:Went to Snetterton race track to watch some truck racing for the first time. It was a great day out, had a blast. Got to go on a grid walk, meet the racers and they even signed the programs for us. And there were some legends cars and some pick-up trucks as well. And £22 for the whole day. Was good day out, recommened

since July, that little stereo packed up completely, I'm afraid I was going to try and rebuild it, or replace the internals completely, but I haven't got round to it... I haven't the heart to throw it away though.Tyrrellforever wrote:AngusWolfe wrote:My stereo system is getting a bit old, and it doesn't like some CDs. It has good taste then.. never throw it away!
doing it the other way round is even worse. About 15 years ago I went to the Leeds festival (think it V98) and after 2 days and no sleep I took a 6 hour train ride from Leeds to Manchester, Bangor, Llandudno, Porthmadog and Criccieth (couldn't sleep on the train incase I missed my connection) then a 3 miles walk to the campsite I used to stay at every year for 2 weeks mountain walking and rock climbing. I didn't get that much done for the first week that year!Rachie_D wrote:Had a lovely weekend at Leeds, although I've learned that going out hiking the day before a festival is not the way to do things.
Congrats, that is excellent.Rachie_D wrote:It was my nephew's first birthday yesterday. Considering 11 months ago we were told he only had a couple of days with us this is just the most incredible present we could have wished for.
hope it went well.Rachie_D wrote:Just had an interview for a real life proper grown up job that I actually would enjoy but that I have no experience for in the slightest. Eek! But yay for at least getting to interview stage!
