Annoyances

Alright so I might watch a bit too much Jon Richardson and I might be a very angry human being but I'm just wondering what really gets to people?

I'll go for some of mine:
- People that chew with their mouth open
- People that walk all over the pavement so you can't get back
- Interruptions
- Loud noises when I'm trying to sleep

Please please please tell me it's not just me with an anger problem about stupid things!

Unfortunately (?) we live in a (mostly) free world where one person's preference, for say chewing with the mouth open, is another's annoyance. Sadly personal freedom does not extend to wrapping their face in duct tape satisfying though this may be.

I know I'll get crucified for this but...
Cyclists. Those who occupy the moral high ground where they alone are saving the world and everybody else is a dirty filthy stinking polluter. Especially when they decide it's OK to cycle silently on the pavement (sidewalk) and then get upset if a pedestrian happens to be there or cycle on the road and expect all other traffic to defer to them.

Also loud and pretentious a***holes in restaurants. "Is this (insert food item) organic/grain fed/milk fed/from within 100Km/eco friendly/humanely killed? Oh and I'll have a bottle of cheap plonk but I want it decanted or allowed to breath or chilled to exactly 6.5 degrees or whatever stupid fad is in vogue at the time.

And stickers on anything that does not require a sticker, like fruit for instance, but you need a chainsaw or nuclear weapons to remove that damn things

And digital clocks (that you no longer have the instructions for) that are so F%$#@ing counter-intuitive that it takes you half an hour to reset the bloody things.

And idiots who cannot find the correct seats even when it's printed on their tickets but wander about like they are freshly lobotomized and then sit in the wrong place.

And, and, and, I think I need to go and lay down now.

Then again, I'm not the one who can be heard 2 floors away, so I guess I can still sympathise to a degree :P

What's fortunate is that it never seems to last more than 15 minutes. What's unfortunate is he has an uncanny knack of starting pretty much the minute I want to go to sleep...

Because he's on the top floor and his room is above mine its not like I can even get any revenge other than having my TV/Music really loud :-|

I guess its Karma for my behaviour when I was at uni!

I have lots. Some of them:

Needlessly convoluted ways of doing things. Like for example, we can't photocopy at work for whatever reason, so we have to scan documents, send them to our work email, and then print the scanned image.

People under the age of 25 who understand how google works, but cannot be bothered to look up how to do the most basic things on computers and complain that IT departments at their work are useless when they put it requests to fix equipment that isn't broken.

Cyclists, both pedal and motor, who weave in and out of traffic trying to jump traffic, then block cars off at turnings at the last minute, then get abusive when the car driver beeps their horn. Also cyclists who hug the curb at traffic lights and get angry when cars turning left cut them off.

Oh and special mention to the cyclists who can't decide whether they are pedestrians or vehicles, and change their status at will, so run red lights at will, and hop onto the pavement at will.

Women that pick awful men despite all their friends telling them it's a bad idea, then moan when said men turn out to be awful.

English football pundits.

Yes, women who say they are into 'bad boys' then get all upset when said 'bad boy' cheats on her and gets in trouble from the police. What do you want? A guy with a motorbike a tatoos, who goes to visit his Grandma for tea and scones on Sundays?

I could have an essay on things that annoy me but I'll try and keep it relatively brief:

1) People who don't indicate at roundabouts - Like I'm supposed to just know what direction you want to go in? Indicate it's not difficult...

2) Cyclists who don't stop at pedestrian crossings - I live in cambridge. This is a very common occurance and drives me nuts! Once I was wearing my steel toe caps so I stuck them under the wheel of a cyclist who did this to me, then watched as he ate concrete... he didn't even have a helmet on...

3) Car drivers who speed up when lights turn amber - This is dangerous and you could kill someone. Like waiting an extra minute for the light to turn back green is so hard.

4) The phrase "innit" - I hate this. It makes you sound like an idiot. Just don't

5) The phrase "I didn't do nothing" - I usually counter this with "Yeah - so what did you do?" and then when they repeat it again I explain the english grammar rule of the double negative: "I didn't do nothing" is like saying "I did something" or "I didn't do nothing" both of which point to you being guilty of what I accused you of. Again you sound like an idiot using this phrase

6) People who walk down the street glued to their phone paying no attention to the world around them - Again very common in cambridge and incredibly annoying as they are usually ambling along with their thumbs up their a**e while I'm trying to get somewhere

7) Stupid christmas headwear - you look moronic. Stop it

8 ) Cessna - Worst aircraft to work on in the world. So many very experienced engineers look at Cessna's way of doing things and just go "What the ----?!" And their manuals are useless. And usually not whats on the aircraft. And the part numbers are usually wrong... the list is endless

I'll stop now before I get angry...

I feel for you, sir. I've been a sufferer for 5 years now, and when it's bad it's not the most fun I've ever had. Are you waiting for X-Ray results or something?

Other than the stones, this really gets on my gurn:

When using the motorway or dual carriageway, driving at 65mph (with cruise control), approaching a car that's going 55-60mpg, pulling out into the next lane to overtake, only to find them speeding up to about 70mph. So I have to then pull back into the slow lane behind them. The same thing applies to when someone overtakes, then slows down to slower than I was going. Morons.

Yeah waiting on results of a blood test and a letter about an x-ray.

Actually that leads onto another Annoyance.

Why is it when the doctor is having a poke and a prod and say "Let me know if this is sore" they hit that tender spot, you grimace hold back the swearies say "Yip thats the spot" about 3 octaves higher than your normal pitch they then go "Just there?" whilst applying even more pressure. Move on a bit, check the other side then go back to the original spot and give it another good old poke. Then proceed to tell you it's a bit tender around there.

Like if they hit the spot the first time, second time to make sure fair enough . Do they think it will be third time lucky and you will be magically cured?

Why tell you that's the spot that's a bit tender? Is that not obvious by the way you have now curled up into a ball?

AND

People who park on the footpath. I am seriously fed up having to walk on the road taking the kid to and from school. We couldn't even use the patrol man today because some knob had totally blocked the footpath beside his patch, so if we crossed with him there was no room to walk down the path we would have had to walk on the road.

Oh and also

Horsie folk. We are near an equestrian shop, they are a big offender of the above they usually forget the twin axle trailer is wider than the car pulling it. . Plus they come into the avenue to turn and don't give a fairy cakes who or what they nearly wipe out with their bad reversing. Then the odd one parks up, they must stay a while in the shop and think it's acceptable to let the horse out of the lorry and have a good peaky on the green and footpaths and leave it. Sure £80 fine if I let the dog take a dump and I'm sure if he was to do it around their way the dog warden would get a call but it's okay for a horse to leave a comparative mountain of the stuff.

People who smoke amongst crowds

People who smoke & then cover it up with cheap deodorant (Is the worst - if you do this please stop)

Comedians that aren't funny

cyclists who are above everyone

people that listen to 1 earphone of music amongst friends

any temperature below 20 degrees (unless it's food/drink related)

Oneupperers (People that have to be better than you no matter what -EG I say 1 they say 2, to counteract I say golf they say sorry -2) EVERYTIME

Liars - Kind of similar to ^ but hey truth hurts deal with it

People who take offence easily or at all tbh Sticks and stones & all that - especially when someone asks my opinion then moans at my answer

Might be even more bothersome if he were also single..!

My pet hate:
About 98% of all shoppers at the Asda superstore not a million miles away from me who drag their jaws around along with their shopping trolleys which they believe they have the divine right to park slap bang in the middle of an aisle exactly perpendicular to the displays and look at you as if you have just suggested they have been fornicating with an immediate family member (and I would not totally rule it out) simply because you have politely asked if they would mind awfully moving the aforementioned trolley aside for you to pass by.

This! Every word of it. You aren't refering to the Bedminster Asda in Bristol are you. I shop there because it's cheap, convenient and about 2 minutes drive from my house but my goodness the shoppers there are a different breed. I call them the ASDA zombies. They just stagger around the aisles aimlessly, bumping into people and shelves, groaning with no apparent perception of their surroundings. Blocking aisles, leaving trolleys in stupid places... brain dead muppets the lot of them.

I was in there a few days ago and as I can out an aisle, some random big fat bloke was coming the other way. He took one look at me, made an expression like I'd just taken a poo on his car, turned around and shoved his trolley as hard as he could into the butcher's counter. Talk about anger issues, I'd barely even looked at him.

A few have been mentioned. A summary would be inconsiderate people. I try to my best knowledge to avoid being annoying myself.

My "local" pet annoyance where I live are women with baby prams. No objection to "yummy mummy's", but they used them as weapons, worse than Maldonado, even to stop the frikking traffic. I mean WTF? If one car doesn't stop, do you really want to think about the outcome? I had another lady once just wanting to overtake me in a shop, and instead of asking me politely, she kept banging on the back of my legs!

Apart from inconsiderate people, I'd add stupid people. Stupidity just annoys the sh*t out of me. Use some common sense, it's not difficult. Like the guy in front of me cycling with 5mph in the middle of a busy road...

Hmmm, more coming to me now. Cyclists with strobe lights, seriously they should ban that sh*t. I know they want to be visible, but blinding someone can be equally as bad. Let alone giving someone an epileptic seizure.

People with hoodies or with "attitude". I understand, I was 15 once too. But when you are 30, it is not funny anymore. Grow the hell up.

List to be updated!

 I sat in the right seat in the wrong cinema once...

we went to see an early showing of Woman in Black (90 minutes of Harry Potter doing one of his 'tortured soul' faces), but after a couple of minutes realised that the trailer for the Muppet Movie wasn't going to finish any time soon. The fact that two thirds of the cinema was filled with kids should have been a bit of a clue, but I didn't notice until we were on the way out - in the end I wish we'd stayed put and watched the rest of the Muppets.

This^^

They use them like snow-ploughs...

Once I had a woman walking towards me in a shop down an aisle easily wide enough to pass each other. I step slightly to my left walking towards her giving her the entire other side of the aisle to move into and pass without incident. Instead, she kept walking down the middle expecting me to climb onto the shelf out of her way.

However, to pi55 her off I instead chose to stop on my side of the aisle clearly in her way unless she wanted to move over to the other side to pass. She was about to rant and rave at me like I had wronged her and the entire female species in some way, until I interjected and told her very impolitely where she could shove it and that there was plenty of room she could have used to avoid me and that she could easily have used that to offer me the very same courtesy I had offered her by making my initial side step to create said space.

I also pointed out to her that she had not thanked me when I held the door for her when she had initially came into the shop (which I had) obviously needing a hand due to her pram and shopping.

She grumbled and moved on.

Anyway, annoyances - people who, when I am standing in a shop looking at a shelf of merchandise trying to choose, decide that standing directly in front of me is the best idea. Hello!!! I'm trying to look here. Can you not stand by my side and join me in admiring the view rather than blocking mine...

Grrr

Middle lane hogs. I was once on a stretch of road where it was just me and this other guy. Him sat in the middle lane. I overtook him and pointedly cut right back across to the first lane in one move. And then because it was a long journey and I was bored I slowed down to where he overtook me. Sped up and overtook him in the third lane. cut across to the first lane, slowed..... After three rotations he pulled in to the first lane. :D :D

Another big pet peeve is "business bullshit" speak. Managers who can't even ask you if you want a cup of coffee without sticking "Going forward" or "World Class Service" or "Exponentially leveraging our opportunities" in to the conversation. I always feel like saying "my first language is English not business bullshit "
