Favorite twitter accounts?

Dunno if this has been covered before, but wanted to know if there were any twitter accounts which the forumers here follow very closely... they may or may not be f1 related. I recently started to use my account more often, wanted to know if there are any other interesting posters out there.

I like a good laugh, so I follow the F1 fake news sites (you know what they are). Also, the writers on The Simpsons and Family Guy... those guys are a bunch of geniuses with words. A smattering of celebrities and news accounts. That's about it.

Oh, and also... how big a deal is it to get a retweet from someone famous? I got one from Jennie Gow recently, found it kinda weird when a couple of people on my list started to make a big deal about it.

Twitter is such an overrated/overhyped place. I made an account two months ago to follow some people and celebrities. I rarely ever visit it now. Boring. People usually never post anything really important, mostly random stuff that no one cares about.

blah blha blah not really what the OP was looking for... move along..

OP.. it really depends on what kind of things you like, personally I like a bit of comedy and randomness

best one for me for random funny and strange comments is @PigeonJon

as for f1 well there are loads... I will come back with some of the tops ones later

Adam Kay and Suman Biswas. Frankie Boyle-esque comedy tweets. Both are members of the band Amateur Transplants.

HAL9000, excellently nerdy computer/2001 jokes.

@toomuchracing, pretty sure he watches any and every motorsport thing in the world, always good for a chat about Indycar

@PJBUTTA, hiphop and rnb dj extraordinaire. Releases white label mp3s on his website to spread the word about new songs.

As for retweets, follows, not really. Kelly Sotherton, Nathan Douglas have both retweeted me, and Simon Pagenaud, Arsenal and Rupert Svendson Cook follow me. Not a big deal unless you make it one. People are people, famous or not.

This may not be news to everyone, but i came across this twitter account called pentametron, it is a twitter bot that searches for and retweets posts in iambic pentameter. Creates rhyming couplets out of random tweets.

Good post, Huggy.

Twitter is fantastic.

I simply follow people and organisations that I have an interest in such as motorsport, cycling people / teams, NASA, plus various other things.

It is also a place full of humour if you are watching something on TV and follow the #tag of the show.

Also, people do give you lots of behind the scenes info that you would not normally find out about.

Following Mark Cavendish, Bradley Wiggins and other cyclists both famous and not so famous gives me a real insight in to their day to day training regimes.

Yes, sometimes they post rubbish like the fact their neighbour is cutting the grass or other pointless things but this is more than made up for by the insightful stuff they post.

CERN is also an interesting follow if you are interested in such things.

There's a series of fake accounts that i follow that can be rather comical... the main one being one for the Queen.

Generally the twitter accounts for the F1 teams can be highly interesting during a race weekend, often get important info from them before the TV guys get it.

And of course the various news organisation accounts are great for.... well, news.

I once asked 'Where are they now' randomly about Wheatus and got a reply from the band...

That's about as famous as it gets for me, but I mostly just follow the usuals. Need to start finding some more of those funny ones to follow though, Charlie Brooker's the only real comedian (if you can call him that) that I follow.

I'm now following all the Top Gear boys thanks to this thread! Didn't even know Jezza had signed up... :D

I love this account.
twitter.com/AdviceToWriters

they are mostly posts about how to improve writing, articles about literature. Mostly stuff you would know if you already write seriously as part of your job, but i find it fascinating.

Same thing happened to be when I enquired why Craig Pickering wasn't in the Olympic trials. Was a bit awkward that.

Cool isn't the word I'd use to describe that guy. Offensive and out of touch are more accurate going by his tweets lately. I know he's Japanese and his English isn't very good but one of his tweets a couple of weeks ago needed to translation as to it's meaning...

I missed those, and am disappointed by that.

i did not know that kelsey grammer was on twitter as well. He doesn't seem the type! Am a big fan, love the voice work he does for the Simpsons, too.

Not a twitter fan particularly (had to use it for a uni thing for a short while), but in my brief foray into it, like pretty much all of the people on Twitter, I liked Stephen Fry's twitter.

Kovi's twitter is often quite amusing, as he doesn't appear to take himself too serious.
