Are the necks on those things as chunky as I've heard? I played a 335 once with a ridiculously thick neck, but couldn't afford it at the time... been looking for something like it ever since, it felt great :D

Had a real Death/Black/Thrash metal mood on me lately. Today's playlist has been:

Bathory - Hammerheart
Carcass - Surgical Steel
Morbid Angel - Alters of Madness
Imolation - Dawn of Possesion

Now playing Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals - Walk through Exits only. Surprisingly decent. It's actually quite different and, dare I say considering the protagonist, intelligent. No choruses, but good, heavy, odd music, jarring at times and never really "paying off", nothing straightforward but appealing none-the-less.

So far... There's a lot going on so it will take a few listens to fully get what each musician is doing. The drummer is outstanding! I still prefer their first album Themata as it's a straightforward rock/metal album. With Asymmetry and their last effort Sound Awake, it seems that the whole band got involved (as opposed to Themata where the guitarist wrote everything) and the songs became more "jam-orientated" if that makes sense. Not that it sounds bad! It does tend to sound a bit Tool-esque at times though. I would check out the single from the album first: www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_E5ae9ZTwk

A lot of blues today. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac, Hugh Laurie (I like it!), bluesy Gary Moore. might put some B.B. King to round it up :)
