Blinky and Obie: thanks for telling us of your health hardships. Please both of you keep on posting; you have so much knowledge and detailed info to pass on. Historical and current, every post of yours' adds to our knowledge and enjoyment of GP racing.

Good of PF1-Mod to post Chrismo's again.

Went there in 2011, Hungary in 2012, so going to go to Nurburgring this year before it's dropped forever and falls further into administration.

Spa was my back up choice, or Monza haha. I need more money, so I can go to more. There was a person I met at Hungary last year who'd saved for years, bought a motorhome and tickets to all the European races, and just drove around watching each race. Lucky bar steward! I want a job that pays enough to do that!

My mother know's a guy who goes to about five or six races a year... And not just the European races either....

A few weeks back I had my wheelchair effectively given an MOT. There was a part that wasn't in stock so the wheelchair services for my area tried to get it in, but found that as my 5 year old chair was obsolete, no new parts were being made.

Which meant i had someone sent out to me last week to consult with me for a new chair. I gave them my requirements and they went off. The next day they rang me saying that they had one in stock that might be suitable, otherwise it would be weeks before they get one shipped in.

Today I went in and checked it out... The chair is the EXACT right size for me, with EVERYTHING I needed already attached. Seemed the guy that it was bought for had to change his requirements between it being bought and getting it, so the chair has sat in the warehouse for ages...

Best bit is.... I've not fallen out of it yet! LOL

Awesome!

My positive thing is I prevented my homemade laptop shelf [basically a unit that lets one laptop sit on top another] from collapsing. I noticed two stress fractures in the back half of the top shelf. Luckily an old wood offcut and a laptop charger were the perfect size to alleviate the problem.

I feel kind of way more awesome about this than I should :/

I just realised I never offered anyone the transcript of the original Positive Thread. It's about 680 posts long [from memory of a year ago...] and is in that wonderfully simplistic format of a notepad file, so anyone [in theory] can open it.

If anyone wants a copy, please PM me and I'll send it over. It's absolutely heart-wrenching in places, but an amazing read.

Someone offered it out from the Mod Team. I know because I have it here on my computer.

Well worth a read but yeah it does get a bit emotional at times.

I think that's where you did, P-F1 Mod.

My immensely positive contribution of the day is that I'm winning the war against the merciless onslaught that is the eternal march of time. I'm sat here with an early Aspire-series Acer [1640, to be precise, when they were still using the TravelMate shells with a more modern monitor and slight upgrades inside them] hooked up to a mid-90's Canon BJC4300 printer. The two have worked in perfect synergy for the year that I've had the laptop, before which the printer never had anything more than maintenance to be done to her. Recently she's started dying mid-printing. However, it seems that with a little bit of reverse psychology and a couple of thinly-veiled threats, she's running as well as ever.

I'm going to bask in the glory of this fact before she dies again.

And RIGHT on cue: she died again. Well, it was positive while it lasted!

I've been suffering from depression (again). Reasons for it are unimportant for this thread but today is a good day and not just because it's the first competitive day of the new F1 season. :) For the first time in months I have had more good days recently than bad and I finally feel like I'm getting better.

Exercise. Our bodies are one big chemistry experiment going off 24 7. Exercise release chemicals that make you feel better. Any amount is worth it.

Sadly, people often stay away from exercise during periods of depression, mainly because they fear that feeling fatigued will exaggerate their feelings of depression. Providing you don't do a stupid amount of exercise, this week not happen and you should feel better.

Your body will also require more sleep so getting through the nights which are often the hardest times, is easier in a lot of cases.

Good luck.

Depression= detatchment from your normal reality and its horrible. I would recommend Park Runs. 5k runs. Lots of positive people, not athletes and its not about winning. Fresh air and freedom. It's free and running has helped me not to stare into the abyss of depression. It tastes bad.

And if that doesn't help, I'd suggest a serious meditation retreat.

Depression is a manifestation of a lack of self acceptance, or self love if you prefer.

Nothing like going within to find your true self, to find forgiveness and peace.
Joy.
Bliss.

Not seen you around these parts for a while Nakojo.

Not really in to all that finding your self and so on. My recovery has been about standing up to some people who definitely needed it.

My wife suffers from depression and it seems that she may have turned a corner around the same time that you posted this. Still too early to get any hopes up, I think, but it's definitely more positive than we were a few months back. Here's to your continued recovery - and my wife's, as well :)

Went to bed alone last night; wife stuck in another community by a blizzard. Woke up this morning with said wife back home. Don't know what time she got in but I was comatose! Went to work, check the mail, Hey twenty-five quid from Ernie. Jerk who works for me gave notice (saves me from firing his sad and sorry donkey) All in all a good day. Bottle of something fizzy in the fridge to celebrate
