BLM is a great marketing organization run by proud Marxists and is also very misguided. In speaking out against the nuclear family, omitting fathers from the equation and doing very close to nothing to stop the epidemic level of the murder of blacks by blacks they have missed the mark by a non-trivial margin.

I also have a huge problem with their business model as they are neither a charity or a not-for-profit organization. They are a for profit corporation with a Marxist driven agenda and, once again, a brilliant marketing strategy.

I can NOT wait for the public at large to see them for what they really are.

From their website before it was recently updated (in the face of widening questions and criticism). Clearly someone was expressing their true viewpoint. Once called out, the "What We Believe" page was removed. Thank to the wayback machine web archive nothing is every really gone.

"We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable."

https://web.archive.org/web/20200529080 ... e-believe/

If by "disrupt you mean break, mission accomplished. If by "villages" and extended families you mean gangs, mission accomplished. If you intentionally omitted fathers from those who care for one another, mission flippin accomplished. So much for positive black male role models. (Sigh)!
BLM is being used by some people to make a profit. This is not the reason for it and it's hardly the first movement used by unscrupulous people to make money. Blimey, Farage does this all the time.
I'm not sure saying that just because other organisations have extremist elements or unethical members is a valid argument in defence of BLM's actions.

I can't recall any other organisation in western civilisation that has caused so much wanton destruction yet faced so little resistance & critical examination from state & local governments & also the media, both mainstream & social, as BLM has. In fact one could argue they've both been in a way complicit in the riots. The government by refusing to enforce the law & deploy law enforcement agencies & the media by bias reporting & censorship.

You're humanising BLM. It isn't the desire for racial equality that's necessitating violence. It's people who want to cause trouble and have found BLM as a tag to excuse themselves from their actions.

Thank you, this is what I wanted to write before but had second thoughts. The wayback machine is good for everyone to see what they stood for. Also, I find the part saying "combating and countering acts of violence" quite difficult to defend if they want to present themselves as a peaceful organization.

I like this Lewis a lot more than other forms of activist Lewis. I acknowledge that it's a tight-rope walk when you engage in activism, and sometimes you will get it wrong (at least in my view). But his approach here is right.

It's very difficult to get a read on Lewis sometimes...

Do they still take the knee before the races? I have not followed this at all to be honest. Do they still do it and which drivers are kneeling? Anyone knows?

Yes they do and I think the drivers kneeling are the same one’s that have all season.

Thank you, it's faded from the news so I was wondering

I'm so proud that the London 2021 fireworks payed respect to the black lives matter movement. Its reassuring to know I'm not entirely surrounded by bigots, given how many people downplay black equality issues and being in a post-brexit Britain.

I agree. It was a great touch and already, those not claiming to be racist, are posting racist rubbish all over social media.

My brain really has a hard time understanding how one could possibly be racist.
Also, for some reason nowadays racists don't even admit it and end up doing statements like "oh, going public against racism won't solve the problem" and so on. The same people that judge women on the way they dress and say "going public about the fact that you got raped when you were 15 won't solve the problem", all right.

I don't get that logic. Also training once won't make you an athlete, does it mean it is not a healthy thing to do? Not eating sugar for one day won't make you lose 10 pounds but does it mean you should not do it?

Bwoah. I'm not a fan of politics. But I just don't get how one would be racist, homophobic or misogyn. Is It their fault if they're born black or gay or woman? :O

About the kneeling and so on I don't know what to think. Being strongly antiracist I didn't mind that at all. It seems that other people criticize that they introduced politics in F1, which also is a fair point.
