Saw Haywire last night.....

Not sure what the movie was trying to be, but i will give it it's dues, the fight sequences were brutal as F**k.... specially the Fassbender - Carano fight.

wonder how she'll fair in Fast6....

Seriously..... taking your 3 & 4 year olds to watch MIB3, 2 hrs+, and letting them run riot as long as they are not near and bothering you, WTF! Playing up even during the trailers :uhoh:

People whining but not having the the balls to say anything!

Getting the aggressive "WHAT THE FECK HAS IT GOT TO DO WITH YOU" when you politely say something.

Come on, know your kids, hour and a half is my youngest's limit then its on my knee or eventually out the door and miss the end of the film..... toss of the coin if it's me or the wife ;)

Haven't had a worse experience since I watched the original in Taiwan

Movie was much better than expected from Mr Sequel Smith, nice twist/back story fill-in. 60's theme worked, very funny and the new/old Agent K worked brilliantly. Only issue was the CRAP mono-wheel motorbike sequence.

Go for a late night view with no kids though

THANK YOU!!!

Haven't watched it yet, but seeing Ruffalo on the trailer I thought exactly the same thing. Eric Bana would also be better.
I agree. Bana was a good Hulk. That said, Ruffalo was pretty good, and he did the motions of the Hulk (using the method used for the actors in Avatar), but still. :D
I forgot to mention this in my other post. After watching the movie I thought that Ruffalo was actually ok. He had that rugged look, trying to be calm while boiling on the inside... While not Bana or Norton, I think he did ok! Only think that annoys me is his voice, but I can live with it!

Henry Hill Jr, the person who was the main character in the film goodfellas, who also played a large part in making the movie as authentic and realistic and true as possible, died y'day aged 69.

Goodfellas is one of my favourite movies of all time, absolute fantastic, Martin Scorsese should have won the oscar for it (if it wasn't for Dances with wolves!!) i don't glorify gangsters or those involved with crime, which of course is inherently wrong, but what a film!

Arnie.

What a guy.

I had a bit of a Schwartzenegger weekend. Running Man, Predator, Terminator, Terminator 2, Total Recall. Me and a buddy got a bit drunk and decided to watch a whole bunch of Arnie films. For a good drinking game, whenever Arnie says anything that is a catchphrase or is incredibly hammy acting, take a drink... at your peril. We got utterly smashed doing this. Good fun, plus Arnie films never really disappoint. they ain't Schindler's List, but they do what they say on the tin.

Should've watched Commando too. I think he has some of the best catchphrases there:

"Arnie: "Remember Sully when I promised to kill you last"

Sully: "That's right Matrix you did"

Arnie: "I Lied"

I watched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy at the weekend. I haven't read the book which is unusual for me as I prefer to read the book first.

The film is a touch slow getting going but it does build a real web of intrigue and I loved how it all panned out. If you like proper spy thrillers (as opposed to spy action films a la James Bond) then see this film its good.

8/10

An oldie but goodie, and one I really do recommend, even though it's got Kevin Costner in it: No Way Out.

That's the one they think he is a spy but he is just banging someone else's girlfriend, isn't it?

It turns to a proper cold era spy film!

If that's the one then yes, I agree with you, good movie and Costner is ok in it!

Interesting description, but yes, that's the movie. Nice little twist at the end.

I waited a little while to go see it as a friend had some commitments before he could come with me, so when shortly after its release Ridley gave an interview saying there was a directors cut, I was slightly alarmed.

I also avoided any reviews, and really my only warm up to the movie was the virals released on the internet.

One can but hope, that the directors cut, like blade runner before it will be the definitive version that solves some of the larger plot holes in the movie.

If not, then I stand by my jettison request to any budding rocket builder.

I saw this at the cinema and couldn't follow it at all. Think it's partly because there's so many characters and in my head they were all called 'Sherlock, Sirius, Stone, Blackwood etc' and it can get a bit confusing. I got it for my dad for fathers day even though I didn't get it and he said having read the books and seen the series that was out years ago that it holds its own, especially they have such a short space of time to introduce so many characters.

Anyone know of anything good on NEtflix that may have flown under my radar. I pay £6 a month for it, I'm trying to make sure I watch one movie a week to make it worthwhile (apparentl;y that is where I draw the value line!)

Killer Joe

Blimey. I had read a little about this and it looked interesting - like a darker, slightly grittier Coen Brothers. It kind of was but dark doesn't cover it - this was NASTY. Redneck family pimping their daughter out in order to pay a contract killer to bump the daughters Mum off. It all goes horribly wrong of course. Superbly written, shot and acted but I wouldn't say I enjoyed it.. Matthew McConaughey was brilliantly disturbing. Quiet the nastiest character I've seen on screen for some time.
Certainly wouldn't recommend it to everyone but if the prospect of Gina Gershon felating a piece of KFC with a bloodied face piques your interest go for it. It's certainly not a film you'll forget in a hurry.

Netflix recommended Apocolypto to me, which I had totally forgotten existed. Sat up till 3am watching it, it is an awesome film, really well directed (Mel does have a lot going for him, despite what he has against him) great script including the 'modern' translation in the subtitles and a really compelling story which kept me watching right till the end without moving. Has got quite a few gory scenes to warn people about in case your a little light stomached.

watched Prometheus yesterday. Liked it a lot. Visually it is on the other side of Avatar but equally breathtaking (for me at least). And I liked the idea too.

watched Apocolypto couple of years ago, late night on BBC. very good movie

also read Millenium trilogy and then watched all three Swedish movies. Great books and movies are almost there.

this might be slightly controversial, but in terms of the movies, i watched the swedish movie first (dragon tattoo) and then a few months later watch the hollywood version, and i quite liked the hollywood version more, i found the swedish one a little slow (although truth be told, i did watch it at 1am, and fell asleep towards the end, so it may need a rewatch)

how do the other films compare?

I haven't seen the Hollywood one yet. But my reason to go books and then Swedish movies was very deliberate one - who can show Swedish way of talk and do things better than Swedes themselves? (similar as 'Killing' situation). So I actually wanted to watch 'originals' first, with subtitles. Of course they were changes comparing to the books, but I think in general it was really close. With just one thing I want to mention - books are not that focused on Liz comparing to the movies. And we have to remember those are TV movies. Not a proper cinema as a Hollywood one.

@Mr E - I think she is a very good actress. but that would be it from my side ;) BTW - are you MrE I think you are? with the stories about lawnmower business?

I watched all three Swedish movies at the cinema and despite my usual dislike of subtitled films I prefered them to the Hollywood version. Daniel Craig and co was not bad but Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist have it by a comfortable margin.

Have you seen it? I wanted to quit cinema after like 10-15 minutes when I realized what it is. It was first I was even thinking about doing it and I have seen many bad movies. It's totally weird movie and very hard to follow, because it's just what I wrote in spoiler. It's not that you shouldn't give it a try, because it's just my opinion, but you have been warned. But But!! IMDB gives it 6/10. Granted a 6/10 score is a "passes the time score but.... Oh wait it's got that dude from twilight in it. Therefore you've got the "I loved that film because it got R Patzz in it and he's soooooo gorgeous... Dont ask me what the film was about. I've got no f'kin clue but he's soooooo lovely." i felt the same about hunger games!

i hadn't read the books, so i watched the film, and criticised the film, purely on merit, and it was bad!

7.6 on imdb, 7.6!!!!! if i was being generous, i would give it a 6, but thats purely because i'm being nice, personally it would be barely a 5. Its a bad movie!

and this is where the IMDB scale now fails, modern films get rated too highly, and it boils down to popular themes, although i'm pleased to see twilight still rated low!!
