Sorry if this isn't topic worthy, but I thought I'd ask and hopefully more knowledgeable people than me can contribute to help other people on my predicament.

I don't know much about pc specs and I'm wanting to know what would make for a good gaming pc. I've been looking through a few different sites and decided that I should go for a custom built, non-branded one, to get what I think I need and at a slightly lower price.

What I've chosen is:

1st Hard Disk: 1TB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 2.5" SSHD - UP TO 5X FASTER THAN HDD!
Power Supply: CORSAIR 350W VS SERIES™ VS-350 POWER SUPPLY
Processor Cooling: INTEL STANDARD CPU COOLER

So is this a decent spec for current and future gaming and is this spec worth £900 or not?

Also what virus/online protection software would people recommend and also if it's even worth having a DVD/Bluray drive.

It may need mentioning, but the Seagate Firecuda is a hybrid hdd, not a full SSHD. TBH I dont know how this will affect you, but I notice mine is slower than a full SSHD. With the RAM you will have though it may not make any difference, dont know.

Few things:

If the onboard wifi is not 5Ghz, get a 5Ghz dongle. The range is shorter, but you don't get interference.

Absolutely make sure you back up the usb 3.0 drivers for the case usb ports. They're a nightmare to get set up without the drivers.

For the price, with a monitor, it looks not bad value. CPU and graphics card alone would be about £400 minimum. If you can do without some particle effects for a steady 30fps minimum, you should be fine.
