Former Negro League and WWII veteran Bob Morley - the very 1st Black umpire in the Ban Johnson League who called his 1st College World Series in 1973, has passed.

Right before he made history, Marley was a Marine in WWII as part of the Momford Point Marines - an all-black military unit. He earned a Purple Heart after being shot on the foot in Okinawa. Right after his discharge, he began his career as an Umpire in the Ban Johnson League before moving up the Negro Leagues. He would later enroll at the Umpire School in 1957, before calling his 1st Minor-League game at the Pacific Coast League in 1958.

In 1979, he would turned down an offer to umpire his 1st MLB game due to the umpire strike.

Morley was 94.

THE WRESTLING WORLD HAS LOST THE GREATEST MINDS IN THE BUSINESS.

Whether you like him or not, we will respect his legacy. WWE has announced the passing of Bobby Heenan, who has managed numerous talents in the '70s, '80s, and early '90s before heading to the broadcast booth. A VERY TRUE BRAIN AND THE GREATEST HEELS IN THE BUSINESS!!!!

Heenan was 74 after losing his battle to throat cancer.

I came in to this topic yesterday expecting to see Bobby Heenan - you've posted wrestlers before Placid.

I love me a bit of Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Top notch at being a manager and an announcer, never saw him when he was actually a wrestler. I knew he'd been ill for a long time, as Placid demonstrated how different he looked not to mention sounded. Incredible with the speed of his sarcasm and wit, great at cutting a promo for whomever he was managing at that time but even better at playing with the crowd usually as a heel, often to the WEASEL chant.

Two standout moments regarding Heenan for me.
In drag (among other parts of the skit) trying to get into the first WWE Raw.
Entering at WM9 on the camel backwards... still cracks me up. It's such a silly little thing but I find it so damned funny.
