Ok, the NR LH feud is red red hot and for those who are not die hard fans of either driver and just want to see an exciting season up to the end we are having a hell of a time

So, we have Monza coming in two weeks time. Too little time for the blood to cool down. Things will be, to put it lightly, pretty tense in the Mercedes camp. Care to venture what will happen again between these two? 8)

There are other teams besides Mercedes. I'm hoping we will get good racing throughout the field regardless of the Mercedes situation.

Oh, how I fully agree that for us not worshiping at the alter of either driver it is an incredibly amusing reaction by many over a simple racing incident, a replay of what Massa did in Germany.

Nothing is going to happen. The drivers are now forbidden to race each other, and as Wolff recently stated:

Quote:
"We saw our worst case scenario when the drivers made contact on lap two - and that ultimately cost us a one-two finish," Wolff said.

"It has been our clear policy to let the drivers race this year but rule number one is: don't hit each other. To see that kind of contact, so early in the race, is an unacceptable level of risk to be taking out on track. It cannot - and will not - happen again."

"It is clear that we need to strengthen our focus on securing the Constructors' Championship by delivering the potential of both cars in the next races," he added.

Quizzed on if that means Rosberg and Hamilton won't now be allowed to race, Wolff told reporters, including GPUpdate, that the situation will be reviewed.

"We will sit down now with the drivers and ask how they see it," Wolff continued. "We will not say to Nico, 'You messed up', because they are fighting hard and it could have happened the other way around.

http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/315256/mercedes-to-strengthen-focus-on-constructors/

Wolff may be a power player in Formula One, but he relies on the graces of the Mercedes Board of Directiors for his job, and their mandate is simple for him to look good in their eyes.

Both cars must finish 1-2.

Team orders are now in effect, and the drivers must play nice, and never come within one second of each other.

Whoever gets pole will win without much contest... Obviously barring Mech issues or the weather. Qualy is really important for this one, I think Merc will be hesitant to let them race

Nothing. The media will play it up more and in the end, one driver will win comfortably ahead of the other.

Don't tease me like that!
He and Alonso both deserve wins the way they've been driving though.

Ooooooo I would love to see Rosberg lead Hamilton into the first corner. Is Lewis going to sit behind all race? I think not. :smug:

Mercedes will try to implement team orders, but obviously both drivers will race for themselves. this could result in the sacking of Wolff, since he obviously doesn't have enough credibility in their camp.

first corner should be mega.

another scenario, could be that Mercedes will deliberately hinder one of their drivers so as to have a clear #1 driver for the rest of the season.

Mercedes will have to put the two drivers on strategies which will keep them apart on the track. Good luck to them. If they get a 1-2 or a 1-3 in qualifying, the first corner is going to be interesting particularly on the second lap if one of them slipstreams the other and gets a sniff of an overtaking manoeuvre. I think there's going to be at least one more collision between the two before the end of the season.

Rosberg has (up until Spa) always backed out of any overtaking manoeuvre with Hamilton when it looked like he wouldn't successfully complete the move. I think he just got fed up of always giving way to Hamilton and decided not to do that any more and it went wrong.

BTW, has either of them overtaken the other on the track this year? Not counting starts running to the first corner, I can only think of Canada out of the hairpin just before Hamilton's car broke at the chicane.

Bahrain.
The question Rosberg has to ask himself is whether he is prepared to take a risk on crashing into Hamilton again. I think he will play the odds for the next few races as it looks like the WDC is secure; but if his WDC is in jeopardy towards the end of the season a 'misjudgement' leading to a crash would probably be a likely outcome. As it would if the boot was on the other foot.

Mercedes will score a 1-2 half a lap ahead of everybody else. There will never even be a need for team orders and it'll all be a very boring battle for the victory. The name of the winning driver is irrelevant.

A collision at the Parabolica...

...which will keep everyone talking about the Parabolica whilst stopping talking about the Parabolica.

Williams will have strong pace at Monza, and Massa and Hamilton have a record of colliding whenever they're near eachother. Bottas to win from Rosberg.

Watch out for Maldonado! That is assuming the director chooses to show it to us.

Maldonado has become too predictable. He needs to change it up a little and not hit a car or two for a couple of races.

He only gave Bianchi a puncture and took himself out this week. Not too bad.

Rosberg on pole, Hamilton 2nd. Both get decent starts and Lewis goes for the move into Rettifilo. Nico doesn't yield, Lewis doesn't yield, and they have another coming together.

Or maybe they both give each other almost the width of the track and don't dare risk tripping over each other. Who knows, although I'd kind of like the first option purely for the nuclear fallout afterwards.

I have a feeling that this is going to be an incredibly interesting race.

Mercedes have the fastest car on paper, but will they realise that they need to thin the rear wing and give them less drag?
Williams have the best PU, and a car that deals with drag very well.
To my absolute surprise, Red Bull were quickest down the race. Inevitably, they'll keep their set up from the last race, could they pose a threat?
Ferrari may take a leaf out of RB's book and have less downforce on the car like the Red Bull car. They apparently have the better engine, so will they be up there, too?

It will be a Mercedes 1-2 and we will have one of the most tense podiums we have seen only for it to be ruined by someone like Sherlock Holmes to do the interview instead of someone who can ask the questions we want.

I think Rosberg will play it safe with that 29 point lead and not be too bothered if he finishes second.
There will be other tracks where it is harder to pass and he may get pole position there.

I hope Lewis wins and Nico DNF's to close things back up and start anew from where things were going into the summer break. Then let them battle it out tip the bitter end.

One thing that this whole scenario has put into my mind is a possible swap for Lewis from MB to RBR for Vettel. You heard it here first! LOL

In all seriousness, though that wouldn't surprise me, I also wouldn't be surprised to see Ron tuck his tail between his legs and pay Lewis top dollar to have him back, and possibly yield to the trophy situation. If I were Ron that's what I'd see as the best option for McLaren. One of the top 4 drivers in F1 who is familiar with the team and can get on with the program of getting them back to their winning ways. Not sure if that's something Lewis would consider, but given the current situation, I don't know that I see him back at Mercedes for 2015.

A buddy of mine suggested the possibility of a multi-seat swap where Lewis lands somewhere other than Red Bull or McLaren, but 4 teams end up with one of the top 4 new drivers, all new to those teams. However unlikely, pretty interesting to ponder.

This....

Mercedes cannot be pleased with the fiasco post-race at Spa. Wolf & Lauda may not have the clout or the respect from the drivers... Mercedes does.

The rumour was that Red Bull were basically running their Monza spec at Spa, while Williams and Mercedes on the other hand were running more downforce that they can remove. I'm not expecting to see Red Bull anywhere near the front, though they have surprised us before.
