Mark will be closer this year because he can handle the off throttle blowing "thing" better. Thats one thing Seb still has to adapt to. But the impact will be much smaller in Marks favour than last 2 years where it really showed (UK & Germany last year) due to the limited impact overall that off throttle blowing will contribute to a lap time. Coupled with tyres more suited for Mark, i expect a stronger showing from him this year. But he wont beat Seb over the year.

As much as I like Vettel, I hope he isn't as dominant this year, purely for entertainment purposes. I could see a race weekend being much more interesting to watch if the Red Bulls weren't so dominant, OR the gap between Webber and Vettel being greatly decreased!

I'm all for him having another dominant season :D.

But if there is a fight, he's up for it as he showed in 2010.

Either way, champaign time is what I'm talking about!

I like Seb. :D

Few queries.

1) Why does he have to wear a new helmet design every GP?
2) What's his cars name this year?v :D

1) For this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... Mdw#t=109s :D Last week he brought three different helmets and wore each of them during the weekend. 8O Two of them were already used through the test season though. He's wearing the third one this week.

2) Abbey! http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/98014
Sebastian Vettel has elected to call his car 'Abbey' this season - after abandoning plans to hand it the moniker of 'Everybody's Wife'

I'm a firm believer that he's trying to save the global economy, one helmet at a time,

Kimi's penalty helped Seb BIG TIME.... Starting 5th puts him in great shape to get Webber at the start

As a Vettel supporter I'm excited to see my own fears put to the test if he can really compete when McLaren have the clearly superior car. Australia was a good showing, hopefully he can come from the field this time and do well in Malaysia.

I'll be very interested to see what his race strategy is, I called it last week that sooner or later someone would make a serious attempt in quali on the harder tyres due to the lesser time penalty on them. Now, I'm not a huge Vettel fan by any means, 'preciate his ability though, and I believe he will hold his own through his longer first stint, does he strap on softs on a lighter fuel load for the rest of the race (which I believe probably makes the increased grip more of a factor from them) or does he make it a 2 stopper by taking 2 sets of hards and 1 set of softs.

I honestly believe that Vettel's race could mark a step change in peoples quali strategies, because I think the quickest possible race probably involves starting on the harder compound and going on softs when the car is lighter, but teams have been afraid to lose track position.

If he makes it work, we could well see more teams going for it over the course of the season, which could shake up quali a little bit.

As for supporting Seb, the guy is very likable and a great driver, I still hold a slight tendency towards the Brits but I don't tend to get behind anyone in particular these days.

Makes you wonder though about him. Without the exhaust diffuser system he's not as fast as Webber. (Got a lucky break in Melbourne with the safety car.) Do you believe he'd have won two WDC without the big help of that system.

All drivers win when they get on well in combination with their car in any season. Regs change - adaptation continues. Ask yourself if Button, Hamilton or Alonso would have won a WDC if they had had to deal with the EBD in their championship season? We don't know, but it is the exact same question with the exact same evidence...

From Seb's Diary, translation courtesy of Miezicat :]
On Thursday my media session was a bit different than usual. For RTL viewers I played with Kimi a few games, puzzle, table football.. that was fun!

I like Kimi, he is honest, which for me is one of the most important character traits. In F1 you collect lots of experience with people, with Kimi I only had good experience. He is really a nice guy and I think he has lots of fans here in China :) at least lots of chinese girls have waited for him and asked for an autograph.

The finns I know are very likeable, they maybe don't talk that much but they work and that is sometimes more important than just talking.

Last year I rarely have seen Kimi, he was driving rally, me F1. In this season it's looking better cause we both drive F1. when we both have time, we do something together like playing badminton..

But I don't have a tattoo yet, like Kimi. Maybe you have to be a bit crazy to have one, maybe I will get one someday, no idea...

Oh and those who are interested can watch our meeting on Sunday at 8 on RTL.

In my eyes a brilliant drive on Sunday in Spain 7th on the grid a few mishaps, some exciting overtaking on his championship rivals and finishing 6th. Expecting more of the same apart from the mishaps but pole and a win would be good. Come on seb.

Great lap by Seb. Only driver in the 1:13's, BUT the job's not done yet. Alonso and Lewis will be RIGHT there with him. They won't let him get out of the DRS zone at the start of the race.

lol he hasn't even been the fastest in his team this season but a great pole lap today no doubt. Congrats Mr. Vettel.

That was his 32nd Pole position, which makes him equal with Nigel Mansell. One more, and he will equal Jim Clark and Alain Prost. One more than that, and he will be 3rd on the list of best Pole sitters, behind Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna. In comparison to his 32 pole positions, Hamilton has 21, Alonso has 20.

Impressive!

Great quali, quickest in all 3 sessions and both of his flying laps would have been enough for pole.

I'm not too sure. In Bahrain Vettel opened up a gap of more than two seconds before DRS even became active, and there he only had a one tenth advantage over Hamilton in qualifying compared to three tenths here.

Wish Seb would have came in about 5 laps earlier for tires, but it was still the right call to make and got him ahead of Alonso which is huge

Seb just got done driving the New Jersey circuit... He said it will be very tough for F1 cars... not sure what he meant by that. I assume the cornering, but maybe other things as well

It's just because he is too clean cut so there isn't much to talk about. He needs to turn up in Valencia wearing a 'need another bail out?' t shirt.. in Spanish ofc.
