Yeah...he's rubbish isn't he...how's he ever going to make it as a rock guitarist now..?

Considering he gets paid to drive cars he's a better guitarist than most people!

Did I say he's rubbish?

Just pointing out that "Quite good" is a bit of a misnomer.

Hey not my fault that if I was playing with him he'd be getting a dig from the headstock and told to keep time.

Having been in a band many times, synchronicity isn't always something that comes quickly, let alone instantly. ;)

Nope I just pointed something out. His timing goes out every time the other guy accompanies him. In my book that means his playing isn't "quite good" . In fact if you are playing with other people it's bloody useless. Timing is kind of important when playing with other people.

I think the criteria for being good is quite low for some of you guys. I wouldn't want to see a bad guitarist then.

What the hells wrong with Jonston's comment? He's not that good!

But the whole point of the video is that it doesn't matter as long as you enjoy what you're doing.

Lewis has again lost the plot and his mate is totally making him look bad and also... Oops, wrong article.
Joking aside, I didn't know he could play so well.

In other news, Lewis goes shopping, renews his car insurance, watches some TV and has a fairy cakes (or is that Kimi?).

So there's a video of him playing guitar averagely, big deal. Yes he's playing it not bad solo and when accompanied his timing's off, but last time I checked he was paid to race F1 cars (and occasionally tweet controversial comments on the side).

Let's not go over the top praising his abilities or slagging him off. If it was a video of me, it first of all honestly wouldn't warrant a mention on any boards here, off topic or otherwise, but ultimately I'd just be enjoying myself, relaxing. It's of interest because of the subject matter, but last time I checked Lewis hasn't announced a world tour.

On a similar subject, EJ's drumming at Silverstone this year (or at least The Chain on the BBC) was awful. I lost a lot of respect for his musical ability from watching that.

Nope I just pointed something out. His timing goes out every time the other guy accompanies him. In my book that means his playing isn't "quite good" . In fact if you are playing with other people it's bloody useless. Timing is kind of important when playing with other people.
So what, he plays just for fun, to have something to get off the pressure of F1 racing. Don't think he is used to play with others, or has any ambitions to do so.

No I merely pointed out the inaccuracy of someones post.

Some people just have to put others down, wether they dislike that person or not, they just feel the need to have a dig.

Well, if it makes you happy....
It's always a matter of your angle, for someone who does not play it is quite good
For a professional probably not. For me it's good enough, maybe for the poster it was good enough, too. So his post is not inaccurate for him, but for you, wich matters for you, but not for me, not for him and not for Hamilton :)

In short: It's always in the "eye" of the beholder , and everything is relative.

It's not about putting anyone down.

If someone who didn't know anything about racing went with you to watch a race. They pointed out someone driving like an pickle and said "He's quite good" would you say "Yeah he is" or would you say "Not really" and point out why the person wasn't quite good?

Wow there's some idiots in here. Everyone is allowed an opinion. If one person thinks he's good, then fair enough. If another person thinks he's not that good, then again, fair enough. It's like clicking on a thread about school, and yes.. that was a horrible joke.

Again did I say he was?

Again all I did was point something out to someone who reckoned it was "Quite good" . Keeping time is a basic with music not something only virtuosi like Stevie Vai can master. If someone isn't in control of a basic skill of playing an instrument do they fall into the "Quite good" category of musicianship?

His playing is at the level of someone who has been doing it once or twice for a year or two.

I would not 'bash' him or make fun of anybody for trying something they enjoy.

But there is also no point in being dishonest and saying he is 'good'. He isn't.

I liked your first comment but I am a bit disappointed with this one as I am not sure why you felt the need to bring Alonso into the discussion.

Anyway, having read the comments before I watched the video I thought that Lewis was going to be absolutely hopeless &/or saying that he was really good at playing the guitar. He didn't say that neither was he a bad guitar player. Sure, he is not at a professional level but, if I was at a party & he picked up a guitar & started to play, I wouldn't be saying he was crap. Just my opinion :D

I get what you are saying perfectly but for some it's the same type of thing as when their 5 year old brings home a crappy painting from school and it has to go on the fridge for all to see, "It's quite good isn't it!!" says the doting parent as you try to work out what the hell that awful splattery mess is hanging from the fridge door.

One unnecessary clarification of an irrelevant point relating to an unimportant post... demands another unnecessary clarification of an irrelevant point relating to an unimportant post.

That's what I meant but didn't bother writing as I thought it obvious.
