No, what's to buy. Everything HRT has closed. And no-one is gonna try and open an F1 team and create a car in 2 months... They'll all just try and bid for the spot for 2014...

:D :D :D

Think Gothalamide has hit it on the head. I'd also add that why would anybody buy a failed F1 team when they are looking at where to start. Usually teams that are bought are somewhere around the level of the midfield. Toleman became Benetton, BAR became Honda, Stewart became Jaguar then Red Bull. Even Minardi were scoring occasional top 6 finishes before they became Toro Rosso. HRT F1 probably has all the attraction to an F1 investor of HRT hormone replacement therapy.

Isn't there 2 spots available? USF1 never took the grid in 2010.

Even if someone bought them right now, the deadline to post entries For next year was yesterday so they wouldn't be on the grid next year anyway.

I'm not sure if buying the the team would guarantee them a slot for 2014 or not either.

I would hope someone would start another team...only having 22 cars would change things...

Qualifying for starters. Down to six cars being knocked out in Q1 and Q2. Probably Marussia, Caterham and Toro Rosso in Q1 unless something changes over winter.

No one ended up buying the remnants of Toyota's well funded and well developed F1 operation, despite Stefan GP's intentions.

If new teams do come to the grid in the next few years, I should imagine they will be from scratch.

This should be changed to "HOW will buy HRT? "

I would love to see Alonso buy it to keep it spanish

Get some Santander backing

Hire Alguersuari and someone else like Senna (Latin American--spanish links)

Pedro as a test Driver

And hire some decent staff that he's worked with over the years, get it up and running then go and drive for them when his contract at ferrari expires

Its been a while since we've had a driver team boss

Joining F1 for 2013 when the cars are going to change massively for 2014 would be an expensive choice. I'd say that if we are going to see new teams those will join in 2014.

In addition to the points already made, what infrastructure they do have is in Spain, which is not a good base for an F1 team.

Don't think HRT even owned the base in Spain. Only rented it. So any team purchasing the team wouldn't in fact be purchasing the headquarters.

I wasn't sure. I thought they leased some of it but also built some things as well.

22 cars next season will be a shame, but cant see that improving anytime in the future.

id consider certain teams running a 3rd car.

Hrt's team boss for 2012 was LP Sala. He was an F1 driver in the seasons 1988-1989 for Minardi.
But maybe you mean a team boss who is team boss and driver for the team at the same time. Emerson Fittipaldi drove for his own team which he ran together with his brother Wilson. That's indeed a long time ago. Not likely to happen any more. A driver rather focuses on driving than team management.

Not worth buying HRT, especially now they've missed the entry for next year. Unless you're Ferrari then being outside the UK is probably a bad idea so their facilities aren't worth having and their car wasn't any good so you'd be better off starting from scratch any way.

What happens to the (small number) sponsors who are with HRT?
They will probably be creditors when it is would up, but if they end up 'owning' say half the team, would it be worth their while taking it up? This is assuming that there are few other outstanding debts.

They have coughed up, or put cash aside for next year, probably claimed their rebates on it too, so for a little more, they get a team. I know this would involve bringing in a 'project manager' but there are several possible candidates about.

Probably the closing date has scuppered this now though

I actually think it isn't that silly an idea. A lot of the drivers time outside of races is doing PR work. If you had your own team, you can dictate how much PR work you do and therefore put aside the time for team management.

Maybe Kobayashi could buy the remains of the team for a drive if he isn't successful with Lotus? He's raised a decent wodge already and I'm sure if there was a proper Japanese team they'd be able to get hold of some sponsors.

The only thing with a driver team boss would be...in theory...in a team battle on track, the boss could just get on the blower and order his team mate out the way. It would be such a Dick Dastardly thing to do, almost tempting "just because I can," but it would be so unsporting!
