Even then, as we're always reminded, Australia is an unusual track... So really we have to wait until Malaysia to find out! ;)

But quite often it rains at least once over the Malaysian Grand Prix weekend so the order is slightly different due to setups, I would say china is where we see which team and car is on top ;)

That's if it really was a brake failure, it's probably true but sometimes teams save the driver embarrassment by claiming a technical fault.

So they will also bench the car for a few hours to back up the story? :uhoh:

Jon Noble is down at Mercedes, where he reports the team is still trying to work out whether it can run again today or not. Could be a second early close. A decision is expected very soon.

But very often the teams dont understand the tires by the Chinese Grand Prix as we saw last year, so I would say we have to wait until Bahrain to see who is on top ;)

But in Bahrain the ambient and track temperature is one of the highest of the season so the tyres have to work perfect for the winning team, the true running order is only revealed at Spain.

Waiting for the 'Hamilton made a mistake going to Mercedes'

It's a big shame for the team, but luckily this is happening during testing and not out on a race weekend
Drivers I like:
Raikkonen
Grosjean
Perez
Vettel

Teams I like:
Lotus
Merc
RBR

So maybe Lotus is the team to look at?

remember when everyone sensed RBR to be quite quick in testing - come the first qualifying they unleashed the beast with a massive 1s gap over the rest of the field?
you never know who's gambling and who's understating...

for sure - lotus was quick last year throughout the season and - with stable rules - they will be quick this year - how quick exactly and, more importantly, compared to others remains to be seen...

also keep in mind that the tires are manufactured for quicker lap-times this year...
How to fix F1:
1. Stop seeking consensuses on rules - it will always turn out to be the least favourible option for everyone involved...
2. Listen to the fans - there are plenty of them and they have good ideas...

So we still don't know what happened in 2012. FIA Gala was in Istanbul!!! :o

My point is that Barcelona is the most demanding track. If you fast there you are fast everywhere, expect Monza maybe.

edit:

I will also add that first races tend to be chaotic. Barcelona is almost always dry and boring.

i can see merc clearly leading the pack in 2014 ... come monaco, they will probably mount a lot of ballast to their engine to test-drive the new-reg-car in race-conditions :]

Now Hamilton has time to see how long his new BlackBerry lasts while playing Angry Birds F1.

So, Merc fast but unreliable, and Ferrari again have me worried; other years when they were slow in testing it turned out not to be sandbagging.

McLaren surprising, they drastically changed the suspension yet are fast & balanced right away.

I suppose you mean cars not drivers. Some drivers Like JV, Schumi, Hakkinen have always had a good route map round there.

Actually come to think of it that's not a bad trio.

As far as I'm aware is because the exhaust gets extremely hot, they use those so they can push the car without burning themselves, I think that's right.

could be wet towels to cool things down when the car isn't getting the air over it to remove the heat.

Testing might not mean anything, but pretty sure that can only be true to a certain degree...I mean, there must be a lap time threshold where you just have to accept a team is very fast?

After Day One Massa said Button's 1:18.8 was an "incredible" time, so I don't think he'll be too chipper about Grosjean's 1:18.2
