All votes have to be counted, even the stupid ones. If any votes are discounted, however illogical or biased they are, then the poll has been influenced and is a reflection of the poll collator's opinion (as votes he/she considers 'wrong' will be shaped by their opinion)

It should be noted, last time this poll was run people openly declared their intention to 'sabotage' it by posting random order lists etc... yet the forum pretty much universally agreed the end result was a reflection of public opinion. So long as there is a high enough proportion of sensible votes the votes of the insane are drowned out.

Whoa, where did that come from? Just to put some perspective to my opinions. People create polls and threads asking for the best of this and the best of that all the time and I dont have a problem with that even though they are more useless than this thread. And guess why? Because I have immense respect for your contribution to this forum and the stats you have collected over the years and share with us from time to time. I just felt that somebody who goes about collecting data in a serious manner is not getting it right this time and that is why I voiced my opinion here.

I cannot help it if you feel offended and just like you, I am not sorry about voicing my opinion. But I will say this much that the data you have collected over the years (and maybe decades) is the most impressive collection I have seen yet and your sharing it from time to time with us is highly appreciated by me

The issue of bias in this context is generally thought to be on eof nationality - i.e the majority of posters are british so favour british drivers. It doesn't seem to follow that though Alonso tops the polls consistently and although Hamilton gets a high placing, it's not because he's British, it's because he's good!

It absolutely is opinions, yes - that's exactly what I'm after. How good to people think these drivers are. The WDC tells us who won, but it's the difference between that table and the results of this poll that make for interesting reading. PLus who's had a good enough season to increase their stock and vice versa.

But useless nonethless. It is a no brainer that PDLR could not increase his stock and Vettel's couldnt dip any. As I said, this exercise at this point is heavily biased based on the outcome of the season and recent races and you can bury your head in the sand as much as you like, but that is not going to change. People's opinions are most meaningful when they are taken farthest from the event in question, so that is why I said it makes sense to run this exercise before the next season starts. Since you claim to do it before and after every season, have you noticed any difference between the results even though there was no racing in between? And if yes, I wonder why you do it at the end of every season as I already explained.
