 Post subject: Mclaren sponsors in 2005

Been watching the 2005 season review and was reminded that after the German gp and starting at Hungary... Mclaren totally ditch West as a sponsor to the point the regular alternative (the drivers first names) looks different. I figured OK the contract musta been coming up and considering cigarette advertising would dissappear after the next year I can understand why it wasn't renewed and they had already downgraded it a lil (it didn't even appear on the rear wings) but to simply get rid of a sponsor like that midseason seems odd without any obvious issues

Just wondering why it was such a rather abrupt end

Tobacco advertising was banned in June or July that year

There has been none tobacco races since the 80s but 2005 saw a blanket ban pretty much. Ferrari got around it for a few races in 2005-2007 but not many.
Alcohol sponsors are currently banned in France, Canada and the Middle East too.
