Was she? I thought she just didn't get enough points to be automatically entered for 2020?
Neither did some of those who got 2020 (now 2021) entries, they chose to drop her even though she was clearly faster than some who were invited back whatever the table showed.

If I were the decision makers I might be embarrassed since she's the only W Series experienced driver who actually regularly won races and a series in 2020! OK it was Porsche Cup ProAm class cars (which are faster than F3 cars) but she was quick and competitive finishing on the Pro podium more than once. Given that each race offers £1000 to the ProAm class winner and £7k/Porsche for a year prize for the championship the incentive to win is strong.

Of course, this is just my opinion and since I'm not signing the cheques, my opinion doesn't hold much weight.
My understanding was the Top 12 finishers were automatically eligible for the following year if they chose to. Hawkey finished 15th, so didn't go through automatcally but I'm not sure she even applied for 2020 - do you know if she did? She wasn't at the test sessions.

She's doing fine without it anyway.

Thursday's 2nd day of Euroformula's Spa test saw Vivien Keszthelyi (Motorpark, 2m12.792s) again record the 12th fastest time.

Spanish F4's test at Spa saw Ron Weasley's love interest Lola Lovinfosse (Drivex, 2m31.526s) record the 24th (and slowest) time.

MP's Dilano Van't Hoff was quickest in the morning while team mate Rik Koen (MP, 2m23.775s) was fastest in the quicker afternoon session.

The French F4 test at Nogaro saw Angelina Favario record the 15th fastest time, some 3.7s slower than Maceo Capietto's (1m27.293s) fastest lap.

Favario completed some 72 laps, 15 more than former Karter Capietto's total.

meanwhile , I watched the first Extreme E qualifying this morning. Looked great. Molly Taylor was impressive, respect to Munnings for getting the thing back with a puncture but have to say Hurtgen didn't look comfortable and had a big roll here

To the point where she crashed Hurtgen was slower than Munnings who drove her whole leg with a puncture...

Felt sorry for Chadwick, never got to drive as Sarrazin wrecked her car.

I also watched the first Extreme E quali last night (haven't watched the second yet, it was at some hellish time of morning here), and would love to see a list of all the individual lap times. My impression of the female driver stints was:

Taylor - quickest, lap time seemed comparable to the fast male drivers
Guteirrez - similar pace, but not quite as committed on the run
Munnings - at first I thought her run was poor, but half a minute slow with a fully deflated tyre might actual be close to the front pace

And all the others seemed a sizable amount off the pace of Loeb, Kristoffersen, etc. It's a shame I didn't get to see Chadwick run.

I'll be watching the second session tonight (assuming I can find it on YouTube), so I'll be interested to see how these impressions hold up.

The first 3 races in the French F4 championship saw Angelina Favario finish 13th, 14th & 13th. In all three races she was the penultimate finisher, with a big gap between her and the driver in front.

Race 1 was won by Esteban Masson, race 2 by Thanapongpan Sutumno from reverse grid pole and race 3 by Hugh Barter

I'm pretty sure she was just bringing the car home. When you're in a winning position and have a 30 second gap behind, the worst thing you could do is push and wreck.

Day 1 of the ADAC (German) F4 test at Zandvoort saw Hamda Al Qubaisi set the 14th fastest time some 3.4s off the pace of Ollie Bearman and 2.7s behind 2nd & 3rd fastest, Prema team mates Kirill Smal & Sebastien Montoya. She was quicker than 2 other team mates Charlie Wurz & Conrad Laursen.

Day 2 of the ADAC (German) F4 test at Zandvoort saw Hamda Al Qubaisi set the 18th fastest time some 1.8s off the pace of Tim Tramnitz. She was slower than all 4 Prema team mates likely because she had restricted running in the one session in which all the others set their fastest times.

Esme Hawkey (23), current British Porsche Carrera Cup Pro-Am champion has signed to drive for Deborak Mayer's Iron Dames in the European Le Mans series where she will pilot a Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.

Controversially dropped from W Series after, in her debut season in single seaters/open wheel cars, racing in the top 10 several times before securing 3rd on the grid at the Brands Hatch finale she dominated the PCC PA class last season with multiple class wins.

She will be joined under the Iron Dames umbrella by Doriane Pin (17) who was one of the 4 finalists in the FIA Girls On Track initiative who will race a similar Ferrari in Michelin Le Mans series in France.
or not..... Esmee has been dropped due to "her manager having provided incorrect information to the FIA through the mandatory application form.". Something to do with the ranking system. More to follow I guess.

Maybe from this she was classified Bronze but should have been Silver? and Iron Dames wanted Bronze?

Gobsmacked and gutted for her, she was so excited...

Either she's qualified for the series or she's not, if the latter then less sympathy.

If she is qualified and has been dropped because of an error her manager made it seems a bit harsh.

yeah I don't quite get it. Was she over qualified or under qualified? That doc I linked to says

Silver:
"driver who has won a non-professional drivers' series* (Ferrari Challenge, Maserati Trophy,
Lamborghini Supertrophy, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge) or a regional, national or international
single-make lower category series organised by a Manufacturer (not including Series which are
restricted only to Bronze drivers)"

Bronze:
Any driver who was over 30 years old when his/her first licence was issued, and who has little
or no single-seater experience.
• Any driver over 30, previously categorised as Silver, but with no significant results (titles, pole
positions or race wins) and whose performance has been shown to be that of a Bronze driver
in a monitored series.
• Any driver under 30 years old with a licence issued for the first time during the same year as
their first categorisation and who has not competed in high-level international karting
competitions. A

So looks like she would be Silver to me and maybe for the Iron Dames project they were targeting Bronze level?

Yep, looks like I was correct with this. They wanted a Bronze and Esmee would be Silver. So from the criteria above whoever takes her place is old and not very good, old but inexperienced, or young and inexperienced. Great.

Possible I suppose.

"The rules for the GTE class in the ELMS demand that each driver line-up must include one silver and one bronze driver, or two bronzes"

Frey and Gatting are both Silver so the third had to be Bronze and Hawkeys Carrera Cup win makes her Silver also. Poor that this didn't get picked up earlier - embarrassing to all involved that it got as far as being announced all over social media and the relevant web sites. It looks like a mistake though

"while Hawkey remained listed as a bronze on the FIA's website as of Thursday."

FRECA qualifying at Imola saw Belen Garcia (G4 Racing, 1m41.541s) qualify 30th and last for both races (Sat & Sun) some 2.5s & 3.4s slower than pole claimed by David Vidales (Prema, 1m37.860s) & Gregoire Saucy (ART, 1m38.139s) respectively.

Perhaps more disappointly, she was 0.8s & 2.1s slower than her team mate Axel Gnos who was 26th & 17th fastest.

Confusingly qualifying for race 2 was held before race 1

Belen Garcia again finished 23rd at Imola in FRECA's second race of the weekend. Although running at or near the back she was much more competitive, passing several cars on track.

After 9 minutes racing following the last safety car restart she was right on the tail of Tommy Smith & Andrea Rosso and just 2.2s behind team mate Axel Gnos in 16th.

The race was led from start to finish from pole by Gregoire Saucy (ART) with Paul Aron (Prema) second and Zane Maloney (R-Ace) third.
