Abbi Pulling was 3rd fastest in the morning and 2nd in the afternoon sessions of the first official British F4 test at Brands Hatch.

Fastest in both sessions was Peruvian Karter Matiaz Zagazeta who, like Pulling, also made his debut in British F4 last season. Zagazeta competed in the first 2 rounds of the UAE F4 winter series where he was well beaten by Hamda Al Qubaisi

Black American karter Victoria Helm made her US F4 debut in the preseason test at Virginia International Raceway today.

She was joined at the test by Chloe Chambers, Emily Linscott and Juju Noda

The final session of day 1 of the US F4 preseason test saw Chloe Chambers record 10th, Juju Noda 12th and Emily Linscott 13th fastest times. They were miles off the pace of Arias Deukmedjian who was 1.1s faster than anybody else. Helm did not record a time in the session.

It's significant, but I'm not sure exactly what it signifies. It appears to be as a result of the various initiatives (Drive For Diversity, #weraceasone, and in this case Shift Up Now).

So it's potentially a double-edged sword. It's got them there, but 1) some may argue that they have got there ahead of others who achieved more but don't have the extra support and 2) now they have to prove the expense was justified and that they can perform at a comparable level to the other drivers on the grid.

What's more interesting is the mid and long term effect of this "sea change". Will we start to see more girls coming through even without the support of initiatives like these? A lot of what is being done is to try and get female drivers more common place and higher profile which in turn, so the theory goes, will spark more girls into giving it a go and the "numbers game" people so often refer to will start to kick in.

Despite having de Silvestro and of course Patrick in Indy, we haven't seen more women come through to that level, so it's not a given.

Anyway, fascinating times and I'll be watching with interest and wishing them all well.

After 3 of the scheduled 5 sessions on day 2 of the US F4 test Arias Deukmedjian's fastest time of 1m55.5s* set on day 1 remains quickest, session 2 saw JuJu Noda get down to 1m56.3 for 4th fastest overall while session 3 saw Chloe Chambers record a 1m56.5 for fastest time in that session. Emily Linscott was in the mid 1m57s.

Juju Noda set the fastest lap of session 5 of day 2 of the US F4 preseason test at Virginia International Raceway in the last session of the day.

Chloe Chambers was 8th fastest, 1.8s down on Noda with Emily Linscott 10th 1.9s down.

Victoria Helm did not record a time in any of day 2's sessions.

Holland's Emely de Heus (17) has signed with MP Motorsport for her debut season in cars in Spanish F4.

Competing in national Rotax Max in karts taking several wins and podiums in the senior class in the past few years she has also been competitive at European level.

She joins 8 other team mates including Dilano V'ant Hoff.

Al Qubaisi was 0.9s behind fastest & Prema team mates Kiril Smal & Sebastien Montoya with Weug 0.6s further back.

Both girls set their best times on day 2 which was generally slower than day 1 when most of the top 7 set theirs.

Weug was driving for Iron Lynx as was Leonardo Fornaroli whose 3rd fastest lap was set right at the end of day 2.

W Series announce their 5 day pre-season test has been both postponed to May 17th and moved from Valencia to Angelsea!!!

Anglesea is a great track but the weather in May will be nothing like the image above, the west coast of the UK in May is a recipe for windy, showery merde.

Completely agree, she was a really energetic driver and personality, he lap round the Nurburgring in a van was both terrifying and captivating to watch. A great character!

Lena Buhler set the 31st (out of 32) fastest lap time on the first day of the FRECA F3 test at Imola. She only drove in the morning* while almost everyone else set their fastest times in the afternoon.

Her R-Ace teammates Hadrien David, Zane Maloney & Isack Hadjar were 1st, 2nd & 4th fastest, some 2.9s quicker

*Update - Buhler injured her hand and took/will take no further part in the test

Emely de Heus was the slowest in the Spanish F4 pre-season test session held over two days at Spa.

In cold, changeable conditions her best time was some 7s off the pace of Praga team mates Daniel Macia & Quique Bordas and 6s slower than 7th fastest MP Motorsport team mate Georg Kelstrup.

I first became aware of Floersch when she drove in Ginetta Juniors, not afraid to get her elbows out she was the class of the field for a while. Having a roof may suit her style.

Quite possibly, I think her single-seat career had probably peaked even though she's still v young (born 2000!) so this year with the two championships she is doing could really help with setting a longer driver career in place. I hope so, I like her attitude.

Maya Weug recorded 13th (Iron Lynx, 1m32.1s), Hamda Al Qubaisi 17th (Prema, 1m32.3s) & Toni Kayla Naude 35th (AS, 1m36.6s) fastest times on day 1 of the ADAC F4 test in Austria. Naude missed much of the faster afternoon session after an incident.

Ollie Bearman (VAR, 1m31.5s) was fastest from Leonardo Fornaroli (Iron Lynx, 1m31.6s) with Sebastien Montoya (Prema, 1m31.7s) 5th.

The ADAC F4 test at Red Bull ring finished on day 2 with Hamda Al Qubaisi 16th (Prema, 1m31.8s), Maya Weug 22nd (Iron Lynx, 1m31.9s) and Toni Kayla Naude 31st (AS, 1m34.1s).

Ollie Bearman (VAR, 1m30.9s) remained 1st and the only driver under 1m31s, Kacper Sztuka 3rd (AS, 1m31.4s), Leonardo Fornaroli 5th (Iron Lynx, 1m31.5s) & Conrad Laursen 8th (Prema, 1m31.6s)

Each women's fastest team mate's time is included for reference.

definitely seeing a push for girls into F4 this year which I think is great as to me that makes a more logical hunting ground for W Series entries in 2022, BUT we are then back to the old debate about if they succeed in F4 then they should progress to a "normal" i.e mixed F3 grid....

Ferrari confirms Maya Weug for Italian F4 with Iron Lynx (aka the sub brand Iron Dames), no confirmation in the announcement but since her team mates will also be contesting the non conflicting ADAC F4 rounds it is likely that she will join them.

The deal with the team is multi year to provide placements for future #GirlsOnTrack winners.
