Has Ecclestone got Texas with New Jersey mixed up?

Post by BkNYC »

This was on the Reuters news wire this morning:

LONDON — Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has cast doubt on New Jersey hosting a Grand Prix in June, 2013, despite a 10-year agreement announced last year.

My guess is he want to change the subject on controversial Bahrain Grand Prix, i seen New Jersey pitlane up 2 months ago, now they working on the inside: electrics, sheet-rock, studs and the sewer system on the road. If you scroll down on the link you can see pitlane photo from 4/9/2012 thats 9 days ago.. They need to pave the streets and remove 3 speed bumps, so anyway you look on it they have over one year to do it and still Ecclestone has doubt on New Jersey hosting a GP in June 2013 ? Crazy xD

No I don't think he has.

However I think a past member possibly did once! ;)

On a side note: I'm really excited about this New Jersey race. I will definitely be attending on an annual basis as the circuit will be less than an hour from where I live!

I'm looking forward to it too. Ideally I'd love to go to this race and spend a few days in NYC. But I can imagine hotel prices around that week will be ridiculous.

You should be able to find good deals if you book way in advance. There's always stuff going on in the city so I really don't think that race weekend will see a major increase in prices.

Its excellent commute to Queens or Brooklyn where you can find hotels for half the price from Manhattan or that part of NJ. Take a ferry from the side of the pit-lane to Manhattan 39 street and take the subway from there anywhere in NYC for $2.50 / £1.57 / 1.90EU

They should leave the speed bumps there for Webber to do his flying car act again, maybe Petrov too although he's not known for it like Webber

You can always live in a motel about 50 miles from the city.
