Hello folks,
Another 'murican here from Kansas. Have been seriously following F1 since the battles of Prost/Senna back in the eighties.

I am a retired SCCA flag and comm. worker and have worked a number of pro events but never a F1 race. I have spent a lot of time watching race cars and motorcycles go around the track.

Hello, MB-BOB here. I've followed F1 since the mid 1960's, since Jimmy Clark and Graham Hill first appeared at the Brickyard. I was intrigued with the rear-engine Lotus, and it pegged my interest in learning about F1.

Back then, all we could watch in the US was taped delay broadcasts of the Monaco GP. It was a good showcase then and more or less remains so today.

With the advent of consumer grade recording media (VHS followed by DV-R), I began recording the races in May 1982, the first being the unfortunate weekend in Zolder where Gilles Villeneuve died. With the exception of three races missed due to technical difficulties, etc, I have made it a habit to record every race since.

I live in the Dallas, TX area, USA... home of the one-off (thankfully) and completely forgettable 1984 Dallas Grand Prix. :(

Nowadays, I feel more obligated to record a race than desiring to tape a race... can't break the chain...

Hi there,
Im new. I’m just back from Monza. What a race! Has to be one of the best live ones I’ve seen. I was going a bit mad. 😁
Been an F1 fan for ages, attended Silverstone every year since the mid 90’s. Been to a few other races too.
I’m currently a Hamilton fan. :uhoh: I guess I just alienated half the forum? Can’t be helped, I don’t choose my drivers, they choose me. He chose me in 2007 when he was in GP2 . I watched him live at Silverstone that year and again in Istanbul Parc. I was sold!
Before Lewis it was Montoya, and before that Damon Hill. Senna remains a favourite too.
Okay, I’ve rabbled too much already. I hail from the UK and look forward to some good F1 discussions.

Been an F1 fan since the 60s, watching Jim Clark, Bruce McLaren, John Surtees, Graham Hill, Jack Brabham, etc, at Silverstone, my local circuit. Now live abroad and decided to become a member to keep in touch with current events.
Also a great fan of the LeMans race, which I first watched, whilst at school, when Ford were winning it for years.

Hi!

I've watched F1 since the late '80s, and been lurking for a long time. Then... I finally sorted out the account creation process, so hi.

Drat!

I was going to make my first post about how I was the first new registration since 19 Sept 2019 but FrogInARaceCar has now ruined that :frown: :-D

I've been interested in most forms of Motor Racing since my parents bought me my first copy of Autosport as a (starting to be) moody teenager in June 1968. That stopped me moaning at a not very exciting visit to Herne Bay one Sunday. Given that Bruce McLaren had just won the Belgian GP in a car with his own name, and given that his initials were similar to mine (different middle one) I was hooked. Naturally, I still have a very soft spot for that marque.

Don't think Max Verstappen will ever be a World Champion. In fact looking at the current (good) crop of drivers, the only one who I can see in that role is George Russell. But he needs a MUCH better car. And I don't see Williams lasting for more than 3 more seasons under the stewardship of the "Money Men" (I'm with Adrian Newey's opinion of that sort of takeover).

Not sure how many times I'll post as life has a habit of getting in the way. 8)

And not the first new registration since then - just the first to introduce themselves in this thread :D

I've been registered here since like forever. Was never keen on Schumacher (Ralf even less than his brother), was pleased when LH won in '08 (looking back, I wish Massa had got it), even more pleased when Button won in '09, and Canada '11 was a bloody brilliant race!

Who do I follow now? Well, Danny Ric is my favourite driver currently, and looking forward to his partnership next year with Lando - McLaren will be a great team to work with next year with those drivers together! Not keen on the likes of Vettel or Verstappen, and that is more down to attitude more than anything else. It's good to see a British driver doing so well, however I think his success has gone to his head a bit (although it's not really surprising I guess!)

Actually I'd been reading these boards for a while before registering and was waiting for the 1st anniversary of the 2019 post before I wrote anything.

Dammit!

Hello everyone.

I am a new member and excited to be part of this community. I just recently started watching Formula 1 about a few months ago and I have to say I got hooked quickly. What an unbelievably cool sport!

I have so many questions and I am still learning so many things. I've been reading around this forum for a while now and must say I have learned a lot and I am excited to be joining in the conversation.

I am from Boston, USA but grew up near Zandvoort, the Netherlands. So naturally I am rooting for Max. But to be honest, I like many of the drivers and have a lot of respect for all of them!

Hi All,

New member here from Massachusetts, USA. I started watching F1 in 1998, was a huge Mika Hakkinen fan then. Those days it was hard to watch races in the US, I remember NBCs VS channel started broadcasting them, and not everyone had access to that channel. Thank god ESPN has now made it much easier.

I don't have a favorite driver as such, but I would love to see Ricciardo win some races. I still have a soft corner for McLaren.

I have been browsing these boards for few years now, but just recently decided to start contributing and taking part in these fun discussions and debates in what looks like an exciting season.

I’ve been here a few months. I live in Maryland in the US. Growing up, Road America in Wisconsin was the nearest decent road course - shares much with Spa Francorchamps.

I used to follow Champ Car in the US in the early 2000’s, but really don’t like the current Indy Car series (or its ilk - with lots of focus on ovals (uck!)).

I’m an electrical engineer (bachelors), computer scientist (masters) and also have a masters in business. The term EPROM comes from what I was responsible to get out the door in my first job out of college (many years ago). Heady stuff back then, primitive by comparison to flash memories today - but I guess I was a true pioneer in integrated circuits.

These days I direct quantitative risk modeling and computer security performance measurement in a large corporate environment.

Many thanks to those on this site, (and the owners, moderators) - while I don’t always agree with some here (kind of unavoidable given the diversity of opinions expressed), I find the posters rather well reasoned overall and reading those opinions is both useful to me and an intellectual joy. And it’s a rather polite and respectful place - wonderful!

A belated welcome! I see from your profile picture that you are a fellow HAL9000 fan... (I run a HAL9000 parody twitter account, about the only thing I have the free time for, other than posting on here!)

Part of the fun is in the disagreements! We all have our own weights in how we value strengths and weaknesses, how we interpret the rules and regulations - so it's always interesting to see how different people interpret the same raw data...

New member here, casually follow F1 - I'm a huge Ferrari fan so I haven't been watching a great deal recently. But hope to have some decent discussions.

Is there a reason why I can't post threads? I'd like to ask a few questions.
