It is or was assumed Spain's sector 3 times are or were a good indicator for the pecking order in Monaco. Here are the fastest sector 3 times from qualifying in Spain:
1. Red Bull 26.295
2. Mercedes 26.400
3. Ferrari 26.580
4. Alpine 26.632
5. McLaren 26.782
6. AlphaTauri 26.827
7. Aston Martin 26.923
8. Williams 27.131
9. Alfa Romeo 27.164
10. Haas 27.311

The weather at Monaco throughout the weekend will be dry. No possibility of rain.

I'm one of the very few that loves to see this race every year. F1 cars going blisteringly fast inches from the barriers for 78 laps is no mean feat. This is the most mentally challenging Grand Prix where confidence in Yourself & the car is everything.

This is probably the only race where I look forward to qualifying more than the race itself.

100% agree. Qualifying is always a real treat, in fact, it's possibly the best for practice sessions too as there's always a chance of drivers messing up. Come on Nikita, make it so!

The race will always have a great start and opening few laps, but I tend to fear that most races end up being chess matches won in the pitlane rather than boxing matches on the track itself. (Rain aside.)

I remember one year where this was not really accurate but it usually works. But yeah I expect a Verstappen pole and win. It's about time he strikes back otherwise imo this championship won't be close.

2017 I think. Mercedes had the upper hand in S3 in Spain but Ferrari had it in Monaco.

The championship does need a Max pole, but Monaco is one of Max's more temperamental circuits with him missing qualifying in 2016 and 2018 due to sticking it in the wall in P3.

Yeah I love qualifying here. Whatever about the race sometimes being boring, there's so many other great things about this weekend.

Track limit rules will be applicable at turn 10 (Nouvelle chicane). In a first, traffic signal system will be used for cars taking the escape road there.
- If any driver makes it as far as the corner’s escape road this year, they will only be allowed to rejoin the track when given permission to do so by the marshals. As in previous events this will be communicated by a traffic light operated by a corner worker.

Enjoyed FP1, a lot going on.

Ferrari looking strong but I think they normally run a bit higher engine modes/lower fuel in practice than Red Bull/Merc so remains to be seen whether they can challenge.

I maybe shouldn't be saying this - but I don't think a Mercedes will be getting pole. Possibly not even the front row. If one does get pole, that will be impressive. But by then things will have changed my mind anyway!

Since 2017, this track has either had other teams be better than mercedes or at least match them. So with Red bull being so close to them this year, I think that we can pretty much guarantee that they will be the stronger car here. But.... maybe not :D

I'd love a Leclerc pole + win. However, a Red Bull 1-2 looks about evens with Verstappen-Hamilton.

Ah, not following that live - but wow! The red flag I'm sure scuppered some other fast laps, but the Sainz look good.

The red flag screwed everyone's heavy fuel runs. But as Chandhok said, heavy fuel runs out here are insignificant as it's easy to hold up a faster car behind you on this track.

Did I hear it right that race control told Schumacher to park his car down the escape road beyond the chicane only then to red flag the session because his car was parked in a dangerous place. :?

Qualy sims usually happen around the middle of the sessions. As the second half of the session begins, it's all race sims.
