Also, I can't believe he's never faced blue flags before, even if it was because he had a race incident and ended up being lapped. Plus, if you're allowed an F1 superlicence, it stands to reason that you should be able to move out of the way of lapping cars if that's what the rules dictate. There's no excuse.
Well karts races tend to be quite short as well as low level junior series races so you probably don't see a lot of blue flags.
Indeed, blue flags rarely happen in feeder series. Still, all other rookies in F1 got it done immediately.

He should therefore be pretty knowledgable by now regarding the expected behavior - and he may very well get pretty proficient at it, provided he keeps his seat long enough to learn.

Well I was just explaining that he was probably telling the truth when he said that he has little experience of blue flags, however I'm not proposing that as being a valid excuse and given his reputation did it surprise anyone that someone with such a level of entitlement might have a problem with jumping out of the way in respect to blue flags.
