Lewis sandbagging until q3 lol
Perez one sec off wow.
Alonso being embarrassed by Ocon
Leclerc ahead of sainz only on the last run. Clutch performance.
Lando Mia and losing to Ricc.

I do think Hamilton makes Bottas look worse at qualifying to many. I bet there will be floods of comments (rightly so) pointing out Hamilton's 100 poles. But then they need to remember that Bottas is against this driver. If he managed to beat him around a third of every season in qualifying which usually is the case, it has to be said that Bottas is at least a very good qualifier.

Lol ok... I don't ever remember Bottas being rated as a qualifying specialist a la Russel/Leclerc... He maybe a solid qualifier but never was special... Certainly not anywhere near the speed of Verstappen who has consistently blown away his teammates

Bottas put his Williams in the top 4 grid slots 20 times in 4 years. That's excellent given Williams wasn't that great from 2015-.

As for standout performances:
  • Canada 2013 - Bottas qualified P3 in a terrible Williams as a rookie. Ahead of Rosberg and Webber.
  • Russia 2016 - Bottas qualified P2 ahead of Hamilton.

He didn’t make it to the best car because he isn’t as good as the leading drivers of his generation, but is still imo a very good driver.

He was unfortunate that his move to a top team last time coincided with the start of McLaren’s downturn.

Anyway, are you going to answer my question?

F1 grid is unfortunately littered with "very good drivers"
I'm not going through 200 races of a an average driver to see where he could have won... You can either look at the historical data or pretend like Perez was an anomaly..i prefer the more reasonable explanation..Simply not good enough

He’s just below that top level and imo that’s a pretty high level.

You heard correct.

The basic understanding I took away from his comments is he suggested the team is giving him an inferior car setup & the errors are really not his fault.

I think he even at one point said words to the effect that the car cannot keep up with him.

Not a bad allegation to make from a rookie in just his 4th F1 weekend.

Lol, what's your definition of "good enough".. Yes i think he is good enough to be in F1... No i don't think he is good enough to be a consistent race winner or WDC challenger..
Again, F1 is LITTERED with good enough drivers...That doesn't mean much!

Anybody feel Alonso should hang up his boots? What is he expecting to achieve anyways? Alpine is never going to be better than Merc and RB and he can't even keep up with Ocon!? That means even with a superior car he isn't going to win anything against the top F1 drivers..Does he really feel he has a WDC in him?!!? Embarrassed for him especially after hyping up himself

I doubt the Red Bull is as good as the Merc.... I think the fans and pundits getting a little excited now that Merc has finally some competition..i don't think Bottas is only a tenth off Verstappen
Here we go... Bottas is a very good qualifier, nothing special in the race though.

I'm not going to hide that I like Bottas, and will openly admit that I sometimes defend him too much (similar with most drivers that people support)

But last weekend and today was another indication that he was quick and right up with there with 2 of the best qualifiers. He is a strong qualifier and that is no doubt.

There will be several reasons why you don't think they are though.

1: You really don't like Bottas. Some of your comments in the past show this. You said "Bottas what a clown" and made your voice heard by repeating that in 2 other threads as well..... There was a large number of other overly negative comments pointing at him too at the time he went against Russell.

2: You also don't rate Hamilton highly at all, but that just makes the reason why you have your name a little bit more clear ;) Some of your comments such as stating it is the car that is the maga star rather than him. Then "Mr. Fake 7 time champ" sort of helps show you under rate him that bit more.
