The worst thing for Mercedes is that Bottas is slowing Hamilton up

well i think that is 10 racing laps Bottas has led now invade, but he does look slower than hamilton and possibly verstappen too.

Max isn't anywhere near Lewis so unless there's a real issue with Bottas, Lewis needs to just use his skill and DRS to pass him. Bottas is doing nothing wrong at the moment.

Bottas is holding Hamilton up here. This could compromise them strategically versus Max.

Hamilton will get the undercut on Verstappen if Max blinks first.

Look, I know a lot of people on here constantly bash Bottas, but Lewis is one of the greatest ever and Bottas, like most drivers, isn't one of the greatest. Is he holding Lewis up? Well, maybe, but if Lewis is one of the greatest and has DRS, he needs to just pass him or at least pressure him more. So far Bottas hasn't had to defend once so I see no reason why he should move out of the way. Let them race.

Perez as fast as the leaders now, Bottas surely holding everyone up here

There you go, surely that was better than Bottas just moving over. This is F1. We want driver to have to earn a pass, even if DRS is crazy again.....

To be fair, I can't remember a race for years where we haven't been told by Lewis that his tyres are shot.

Perez is closing up on the leaders here. Such a shame overtaking off track is allowed or we could have had a 4 way fight for the win.

it does seem that Hamilton is only slightly faster as the gap still hasn't gone over 2 seconds. Bottas's pace is solid, but just not quite on hamilton's level.

Nah, Hamilton and Verstappen are on a clear different level to Bottas, Hamilton has just spent 20 laps in Bottas dirty air, the other way round and Hamilton would be well up the road.

Poor Bottas had everything going for him with Verstappen getting the jump on Hamilton at the restart. Looks destined for P3.

I actually think DRS is about right here. It's almost impossible to get within 5 tenths but if you do the DRS will put you alongside.

We know you can't stay within a second of the car in front without very big advantage. I suspect Hamilton is heavily managing tyres.

And that didn't happen did it. I'm saying that Hamilton currently isn't that much quicker, and Verstappen isn't passing, and Verstappen couldn't pass hamilton in the "Bottas train". Both are quicker, But Bottas did what he needed to make it harder for them. which is what led to this situation

Sorry, but this year the cars have been able to run quite a bit closer than in privious years. I noticed this with th midfield battle when many cars were close. Plenty in the previous 2 races were very often hanging around under asecond behind the car ahead without a huge advantage.

You really are so defensive of Bottas, pretty obvious Bottas was holding up Hamilton and now Verstappen. For Verstappen to overtake Bottas it will be so difficult. Pretty obvious Hamilton is managing his tyres.

The problem for me is that I have no idea how some people regard the Hamilton Bottas comparisons. Whist nobody can deny that one is clearly better than the other, I tend to simply read one of the two following comments.

1 Lewis is so good. Look how he destroys Bottas.
2 Bottas is so bad. He can't get close to Lewis.

So, if Lewis is that good, perhaps Bottas isn't that bad, just not as good as one of the greatest ever. Or is is that Bottas is so bad, he's making Lewis look better than he really is!!!!!
