Re: 9 long years...
To add to that, the way that we operate as mods - which is basically down to how it was set up and organised by P-F1 Mod - is that we talk to each other and reach consensus on what action to take. Aside from the 6 hour suspensions during race weekends, all mods will seek a second opinion before giving any user a week's suspension. In the very rare cases that we need to give long term suspension or permanent ban, this will be done after the entire mod team has discussed it.
While it's impossible to ever have any system be completely perfect, it does hopefully stop the moderation team from acting vindictively or abusing our power. We want people to be able to freely discuss issues, but at the same time we want all people to feel welcome here and we don't want people who just want to start arguments to come in and derail the conversations that take place. Generally, the level of conversation here is of a high level, and the F1 fans here either passionate or knowledgeable, or both.
But as topics such as the current Mazepin thread, or the Black Lives Matter thread show, where there are two very different positions that people have on the matter, the conversation has been able to take place with a lot less of the issues you see on other platforms such as Reddit or Twitter. I think this is a testament to the work P-F1 Mod has done over his time in place and why - in the age of social media - the forum continues to have a active membership.
Once P-F1 Mod's gone and we've changed the locks, we don't intend to change anything. Except hang the toilet roll the other way around in the mod-toilet.

I wonder if the mod-toilet is like the Family Guy one or the Rick&Morty one....

I wouldn't know, they never let me have the key. Damn unions...
Re: 9 long years...
Goodbye MF - hopefully this means you write more on the site now

Re: 9 long years...
Ha! I haven't been on here in a long long time I guess.
Ah well - wish you all the best, mod who shall remain nameless.

I honestly wish we could, but rules from higher powers than me won't allow that.Black_Flag_11 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 5:53 pmThanks for your service!

Re: 9 long years...
The mask did slip once actually, I recall you accidentally posting a reply to an ongoing discussion using the mod account and having to change the post over to your normal account before anyone noticed. Sadly someone did... Don't worry I won't tell!P-F1 Mod wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 5:54 pmI honestly wish we could, but rules from higher powers than me won't allow that.Black_Flag_11 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 5:53 pmThanks for your service!

Anyway thanks for all your work over the years, you've definitely made this forum one of the more civilised spaces on the internet.
Re: 9 long years...
Oh that wasn't once, I've been lazy over the years and barely logged in as myself. Mod tools have their perks! I appreciate your discretion though.

Well at least SOMEONE didn't out me

Re: 9 long years...
Hope you just need to change it from one side to the other, not from floor to ceiling...
As my brother said : "I've got the brain of a four year old. I'll bet he was glad to be rid of it".
Re: 9 long years...
Good job, my friend. You took over a tough situation and did a great job. Nine years! I thought I had it tough for just a few years. Now sit back and enjoy life!

Well it's official. New year, new account. Thank you again everyone for your kind words, and especially to the dozen or so mods I've worked with since 2011 for all their hard work. It feels weird only having regular permissions again!

Welcome back I suppose? It seems you got higher ranking in your name now Games-Master!P-F1 Games Master wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 8:42 pmWell it's official. New year, new account. Re: 9 long years...
As a parting gift I set up the forum to make this account have a bright orange name! That way you can stand out in your posts on the games forum.P-F1 Games Master wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 8:42 pmWell it's official. New year, new account. But other than the shiny orange name, you don't have any other superpowers I am afraid. Other than the power to draw attention to yourself. But that never needed any help...

Haven’t been around for some time due health & financial problems & have only just seen that PF 1 Mod is leaving/has left us.
I am really sorry to hear this as he has been a great help to me down the years especially after some run ins with his predecessors who were totally unreasonable people.
Thankfully he turned that around & made this a much nicer & friendlier place to be.
Good to see you haven’t left completely & will still have some involvement.

Re: 9 long years...
After a long discussion, we decided as a team that given P-F1 Mod's long years of service, that no one can replace that identity and the account name will be retired from active use.
Since the last recruitment of new mods, and with the ability to co-ordinate in real time much easier these days, we have been making all big decisions democratically as a team, and we felt that it made sense to reflect that going forwards.
This new account, PF1 Mod Team, has been created to replace the function of the top mod account. This account will be used to make official announcements on behalf of the moderation team, and used (hopefully very seldomly) to step in when a final moderation decision is needed on any issues that require it.
This will allow us as individual moderators to continue to act with flexibility. Sometimes we have to react fast to situations as they develop and that means that as more information comes to light, or a different spin is provided, that our decisions may evolve.
However, anything published from this account will only be posted after enough information is at hand to make a definitive decision, and with the consensus of the plurality of the Mod Team.
As a team, we want to thank P-F1 Mod for their long years of service, their dedication to the forum, in growing and nuturing it over the last 9 years.

Re: 9 long years...
I've not been active for a while now so only just seen this thread.
I echo what everyone else has said and wish you a nice peaceful retirement without all the stress of us internet users!
Since I joined (after the past issues that you took over from) I've always said to people that this forum is a great example of how a forum should be run and you've always been apart of that. So thank you and I hope your successor lives up to what you've been doing this past (almost) decade.
