Sorry I misread what you said, so basically the F1 figures have improved these past 2 years which goes against what the other poster was saying.

Is there actually any evidence to show that viewing figures are reducing over the last couple of years? Not saying there isn’t, I’ve just not seen any and would be interested to know.
I have no idea where to find such graphics to be honest. I think one can inference lower viewership based off reduced forum activity and from my own anecdotal evidence that barely anyone I know watches it anymore.
That is perhaps flawed data then?

I don't know about worldwide figures. The general trend is for higher viewing figures across sports because we were all parched.
I guess the UK audience would hold strongest when a British driver is having the glory.
I suppose there's a lot more at play when we talk about viewership ratings. Of course this particular year it would be up due to the unique circumstances. There's also various different factors worldwide, including how they measure viewership ratings, newer markets opening up, and, most importantly, Liberty's strong push to make F1 as marketable as possible.

Those articles are from July and paint a skewed picture of the data. The high viewing figures are from the UK while the rest of Europe shows a decline (notably Spain for instance). Viewing figures will always be high at the beginning of the season because (a) the season started 4 months late and (b) the fans were deprived of the sport for so long so naturally interest will be much higher.
However, I wonder what viewing figures are like now in August and what they'll be like going forwards after yet another yawn fest of a race like we had today.
Pokerman wants to paint the view that the sport is in a healthy position and that viewing figures are high but that simply is not true.

How many countries have F1 on free-to-air? I'd argue that a switch to pay-per-view will have an impact on viewing figures.

Hardly any other motor sport gets the same coverage barring oval racing and that's limited to North America.
Formula-E.....terrible.
LeMans (the best racing) but on Eurosport. Hardly any advertising or coverage at all.
F2 and F3....it's like an afterthought to be honest.
