Got HTTP: 504 errors this morning, and as I type this the white pages are back with a vengeance. Same story when the pages do actually load, missing images etc

Techies couldn't replicate the problem, so let's just be glad we're back online.

I have spent the last month talking to Vuukle support people and I still can't successfully login and comment on their crap chat add-on. I have tried using 3 different PC's and two different android devices, while using all three login options - Facebook, Google and Twitter login icons. Nothing works.

After successfully logging in the first time, I can't post and then I also can't attempt a second login because Vuukle thinks I'm already logged in.

I can almost guarantee you that the problem is because their comment add-on has not been coded to cope with the apostrophe in my surname (O'Loughlin). I have had problems with this before in other poorly coded programs and websites.

Sadly for me this problem has driven me back to using motorsport.com when I would prefer to comment at Planet F1. I've tried my best to get Vuukle to fix it but I've got to give up at some stage. I thought you should know that you've lost a loyal follower of your website over this issue, and perhaps you've lost a few others over this issue as well.

This isn't forum related but I'll forward it to the people who manage the main site.

Just to answer the above complaint in case anyone else runs into a similar problem: avoid using any kind of punctuation or special characters in your usernames and you should be fine. There's no official word on this but that's the answer we've had.

I realise this is what I've been saying to you all for over 6 years, but I've spoken to one of our techies and while I can't tell you a lot of what I know, I can tell you the problems are being addressed imminently. For those of you on the Football365 forum, the same issues over there are being addressed too.

So just for my understanding Mods. The fact that it appears you've removed Lt Drebins original comment about Perez for the post means that you agree with IDrinkYourMilkshake that it was a racist comment?

For the record the lock while we dealt with it was only necessary because the white pages slowed us down immensely. This isn't standard procedure, this is us fighting a battle against a server that really doesn't want to play ball.

Is stereotyping now banned too because there's plenty that goes on here. I don't think that comment derailed the thread at all. I feel it added a harmless touch of humour to way Perez drove tonight and the fact that one & only one person was triggered against numerous people who stated they saw nothing wrong with the post reflects exactly that. The derailing began when a certain one individual took offence to that comment.

Anything that derails the thread - 10 removed posts says it did, for the record - is frowned on. Stereotyping isn't encouraged but we're not actively stamping it out, it comes down to context and outcome.

Have to agree really. Nothing to find offensive about the idea of Perez eating tortilla, Grosjean having a croissant, Ricciardo throwing a shrimp on the barbie or me munching down a lovely plate of fish and chips.

If someone errantly claims something is racist then it's hardly the fault of the poster making a harmless remark and they shouldn't be censored. It wasn't them that took it off topic or derailed the thread.

Ok look I'm not going to labour the point here.

Lt Drebins comment did not de-rail the thread.

What derailed the thread was one single person took exception to a harmless, race related (and I mean motor race here) comment that otherwise would not have even raised an eyebrow and I bet if IDrinkYourMilkshake would have left it alone the comment would still be there like a hundred similar comments before.

But we've caved in to one person complaining against a few that said otherwise.

I'll drop it now & say no more.

Agreed in principle, but we have to play fair when no individual is IN the wrong. Being wrong is slightly different, hence emphasis. We removed the derailing comment and the catalyst. It's the easiest way, or people start crying bias.

That's exactly why I've started to copy every post until i'm sure it's been posted Zoue.

Seems to be running ok as of now but throughout today i've had more white pages than a London phone book.
