Stroll appoints Tobias Moers for 2021!

Lawrence Stroll has appointed Tobias Moers, who was a long term Mercedes executive boss, as Aston Martin's President.

I wonder if this will set the dice rolling when it comes to Wolff joining Aston Martin for 2021 & beyond.

Racing point havent announced tobias moers at all.
Lawrence stroll has announced the president of his Aston Martin car brand.

Why would it mean toto Wolff is joining Aston Martin for 2021. Just because they are friends? It means nothing.

This isnt Formula 1 related. This is car related.
It's like ferrari and McLaren. We dont here about there road car division on here do we.
Will It be news if red bull announced that Rocco benetton had resigned from the board at benetton and gone to the red bull brand at alfa taouri (or however you spell it) it doesnt mean that franz tost is going to be sacked and benetton is going to take charge of the formula 1 team. It means exactly what it means in the clothing division. Benetton is going to rin thenclotbing line and tost continues to.run the f1 side.
This is the same.

Maybe because Wolff has a stake in the Aston Martin project, and also rumours have it Mercedes looking for a way out of F1.

Also looks like Mclaren is getting to the bankruptcy point most folks have been musing since Ron Dennis left as they have laid 25% of their workforce off.

It's crazy because McLaren has created numerous revenue streams and they supply the control boxes for several FIA sanctioned series and they don't come cheap. Their road car division can't be making such little margins on their astronomically overpriced super and hyper cars to be so cash strapped, especially considering the people who now own them.

Goes to show the value of Ron Dennis all those years. People might not like him, but that man knew how to run his business and he did a better job with the team and the brand in general than anyone has been able to, at least to this point.

My question is, how on earth could they have offered Ricciardo a decent contract given their current status forcing them to lay off 1200 workers.

The road car company and formula 1 car company are 2 different enterties.

One should take all of those numbers with a huge grain of salt. It's rare that F1 driver salaries are ever known for certain, but I doubt Ricciardo's Renault salary was quite that high, and I similarly think Vettel's is nowhere near $68m. It was rumored to be $50m in his first season with all his bonuses activated.

Their conversion rates from dollars to euros seems to be way off so I'm guessing they don't really know what they're talking about?

Good point, they’d be talking AUD, so with conversion it’s about 5.00 Euro.

That starts to make more sense but even then the wages of Hamilton and Vettel look a bit excessive in particular with Vettel for just winning a few races for Ferrari, I guess then Hamilton just keys off what Vettel is being paid as in I want x amount more?

Going by these figures then Ricciardo is taking a 57% pay cut and if rumours are too be believed Vettel would have had to take a 80% pay cut at Ferrari but he insisted that the money was not an issue and then we hear the primary reason for Red Bull not considering Vettel would have been the wage demands.

We know that the money is seen as partly to the drivers in how they are valued in relation to their peers and for Vettel that had to be a big vote of no confidence for him, in respect to Hamilton I would expect him to be offered a pay cut in respect to the current economic climate and the second and third highest paid drivers got offered massive pay cuts.

I had in mind that Hamilton will be offered $30M, a 42% pay cut but still not as dramatic as his immediate peers and still $12m clear of the next best paid driver Verstappen.

How was Vettel's pay excessive?

He signed his contract on the back of being a 4* times WC and was the most successful driver on the grid at the point he signed.

His renewal was done in '17 as well.

Also at this point Mercedes can offer Hamilton whatever they want as no bargaining leverage for him due to the pandemic and also Vettel being a free agent!

That is Vettel's renewal contract and not his first contract, it's also funny how you was only triggered by me saying that Vettel's contract was excessive but then turning a blind eye to me also saying that Hamilton's contract was excessive before then preceding to Hamilton and saying how weak his bargaining position is, that of a 6 time WDC and current WDC no less and not a 4 time WDC that had just been beat by his teammate, that didn't seem to do Vettel any harm.

Nothing triggering about it, and using terms reserved for tribal political discussions by you is not a surprise.

Also most of your assumptions in your post and reply to me are false.

Nowhere did you state Hamilton's contract is excessive in your post taking a pay cut is not same as excessive contract.

If football has taught me anything, it’s when the board comes out saying they are fully supportive of the coach, it’s the kids of death and the coach is gone within a month.

Toto’s our the door

Surely a bit different when the team has just won both titles for last six years though.
