What would the pit window be for a 1 stop? Mercedes NEED to undercut vettel with Hamilton of they want to win, they can't even get anywhere near cars ahead

Very exciting!!! Ok vettel just let them go? Surely thats just not gonna work at all.JN23 wrote:Here we go!FormulaFun wrote:What would the pit window be for a 1 stop? They NEED to undercut vettel

One stopper looks to be much the better strategy?

Honestly if hamilton wins this that will be a stunning achievement
Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
The two stopper isn't working is it? Albon and Leclerc have been far to slow in this stint.
Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
Assuming they're going for the offset strategy because Hamilton would be passed Vettel after one lapFormulaFun wrote:Very exciting!!! Ok vettel just let them go? I think it might come back to the 2 stoppers at the end of the racemikeyg123 wrote:The two stopper isn't working is it? Albon and Leclerc have been far to slow in this stint.

Not sure about that, tyres are holding up really well compared to original expectations as long as you look after themJN23 wrote:I think it might come back to the 2 stoppers at the end of the racemikeyg123 wrote:The two stopper isn't working is it? Anyone else feel Ferrari really messed up their strategy?

Race could come to Vettel and Bottas maybe.

Yes I think that vettel could have repassed Hamilton despite the undercut but now I don't knowSchumacher forever#1 wrote:Anyone else feel Ferrari really messed up their strategy?
Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
Not sure. Leclerc is no faster than Vettel even at this point in the race. For a twos topper to work he would need to be catching him.JN23 wrote:I think it might come back to the 2 stoppers at the end of the racemikeyg123 wrote:The two stopper isn't working is it? Do you think Ferrari reacted to Albon? Ended up being a bad decision, they was top 2.Schumacher forever#1 wrote:Anyone else feel Ferrari really messed up their strategy?

Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
I think Merc were way too eager with Hamilton and did stop much too early, but we'll see.
I like Vettel for the win here.

Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
Are Vettel/Bottas trying to go medium-soft?
Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
I really, really hope we don't get a safety car because this is lining up for a fascination conclusion. A safety car now would ruin everything.
Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
Wasn;t max's fault.. look carefully at the start, Lewis lost his rear (out of hape) and forced Max off track..Invade wrote:Yes - Max's mishaps have sucked a lot of life out of the race, and it was of his own making.
Merc in damage limitation regarding brake temps. We can see Albon has the pace so imagine the pressure Max could be applying - though they are controlling the pace at the front no doubt.

I thought he got the puncture in overtaking Bottas. Perhaps I'm wrong.mpls2 wrote:Wasn;t max's fault.. look carefully at the start, Lewis lost his rear (out of hape) and forced Max off track..Invade wrote:Yes - Max's mishaps have sucked a lot of life out of the race, and it was of his own making.

I can only think they over-reacted way too much to Albon pitting. There was no benefit in Leclerc pitting that early. The time gap between each car was going to be constant if he stayed out.F1_Ernie wrote:Do you think Ferrari reacted to Albon? No idea who will win this
Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
bottas might even be ahead of hamiton by race end
Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
Vettel has Bottas covered with a 1 stop. Leclerc has Hamilton covered if they both 2 stop. Hamilton only wins if he 1 stops but then Vettel probably overtakes him with tyre delta.

Who was recently arguing that running longer and passing towards the end of the race never comes off?

Yeah think they just pulled the trigger a little early, would he shocked if he gets to the end on those tyres with any kind of pace

Lewis to pit again as soon as Vettel passes him? Can't imagine Lewis will make it too easy for Seb to pass after the first lap fun!
Re: 2019 Mexican Grand Prix Race Thread
Never works that often for Mercedes. Mercedes just pit Hamilton way to early.mikeyg123 wrote:Who was recently arguing that running longer and passing towards the end of the race never comes off?

Vettel free to hunt down Lewis for an enjoyable pass on track.
